“Great hotel ... but paper thin walls”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 October 2010

We recently stayed at this 4* hotel. It is clean, the satff are friendly and we had the best breakfast of our trip. It is also very close to the train station and a 10 minutes walk to he historical centre of town. BUT, if you are a light sleeper, the walls are paper thin and you can hear every sound in the next room. If that does not bother you, we highly recommend this hotel.

“BEST HOTEL IN ALL OF ITALY!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

We absolutely loved this hotel - definitely 4 or should be considered a 5 star gem in Italy! After staying at 3 and 4 star hotels in Milan, Lake Como, Rome, and Florence (plus this hotel in Bologna), I must say that this was by far the best hotel. The room was spacious, the bathroom was big and very clean, the hotel itself looked nice and not run down whatsoever, and the buffet breakfasts were SO AMAZING. Huge breakfsts with hot eggs and bacon, a lovely spread of croissants, all you can eat and drink (espresso, cappuccino, hot tea, OJ and grapefruit juice!). I pigged out every morning we were there! I very highly recommend this hotel and will definitely go back here to stay the next time we're in Bologna. Extremely reasonably priced too!

Only bad point was that you had to pay for the WIFI.

“Awful service, clean room..I'll never return”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2010

When we arrived, there was NO ONE to assist with our luggage. We were in Rome, Tuscany, and then arrived in Bologna. I had NO desire to go to Bologna, however my brother did, so my husband and I made the stop with him before we headed to Venice. I knew we weren't staying anywhere fancy, however we saw another couple from England, extremely furious and annoyed that no one was helping them with their luggage. My husband picked up the luggage for the elderly wife as her husband struggled w/ their other bags.

the kicker was the 2 women at the front desk.....HORRIFIC. I felt like an inconvenience, as they were in some type of deep conversation as we were trying to check in. my brother arrived prior to us(we stayed in florence a few more hours :) and left us a note, which they NEVER gave us. we actually asked..did he leave us a note..their response?..."no, he just said you'd be arriving after him...." due to that, we had NO IDEA where to find them as we didn't have cellular phones that worked over seas. the beds have no comforters...they're like think tablecloths on top of sheets

some good things? Breakfast was OK. not horrific, the beds are not awful but certainly not great.the bathroom was clean, but you can tell this hotel is quite "run down" and needs a face lift. it was an unpleasant experience and we'll NEVER return to the hotel or Bologna. there's nothing worth seeing there other than the tower you can climb up into. great food...but there was great food in Venice and Tuscany..not worth it!

“Over-rated so-called four star”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

I was there for 4 nights. On the plus side, the reception area is grand, the included breakfasts have good variety (eg 4 types of croissant), the car self-parking accessible and reasonably secure and the location for tourism good, if you're prepared to walk and it's 400m from the station and close to reasonable restaurants, cafes and bars. The room was clean and the a/c worked and was quiet. On the downside, the room was subject to plumbing noise originating elsewhere in the building, the bathroom equipped with the silly hand-held rose over the bath (no support so inevitably water saturated other parts of the bathroom - I'm 1.83m tall and don't like to kneel in the bath to shower). The hotel reception staff were to a man and woman dismissive and mono-syllabic in response to simple queries eg for organised tours. There was almost no tourist info. available. I was referred by reception to the tourism office in the station, which had some time previously been discontinued by city authorities. There was no customer ironing facility in rooms and the only iron available was to be used in a stark otherwise empty room in the basement. Laundry service was prompt but usurous. The WiFi facility was (at cheapest) EUR13/day. Surely such a service should be free, as it is in cafes in the same city.

“Functional good value and standard”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2010

A good value hotel, of good standard decor, furnishings and cleanliness. Excellent breakfast. It seems to successfully cater for a corporate seminar/conference clientele, which may not provide the personal touch the leisure traveller might expect. Some reception staff can tend to have the Italian approach to customer service - which those from Northern Europe might find, initially, a trifle irritating.

The area is sufficiently far from the railway station not to attract undesirables, and the street outside has several hotels, and a couple of bars open late - so there should be no need to feel unsafe walking back after dark.

Perfectly good value for a night or two, and for business travellers, but I personally would choose another type of hotel for a holiday in Bologna.
