I am sorry to say this, but I feel we were fooled into this hotel. A booking service at the tourist office found the hotel for us, and the lady described it as at "nice" hotel. Our room, at least, was not nice. And extremely hot, although there were an air-condition in the room. We paid too much, and found a much better, and much cheaper hotel the next night.

The location in the historical center was very good, that's what I liked best.

I stayed in this hotel for business. It is very well located, just in centre of the town. My room looked old fashioned, with old furniture, a small bathroom and a terribly noising air conditioning system: if the air condition set was on you really couldn't sleep because of its noise, if you switched it off you couldn't sleep because of the high temperature. I've never seen such an old air condition system.
The breakfast was rather poor, and the staff unpleasant. Moreover, they don't have a car park. So, if you arrive by car they will drive your car to an unknown garage (not included in your room rate) and they will drive it back to you when you leave. But you must be careful, because since this garage is closed from 10pm to 6am, if you need your car during the night you can't use it.

We loved our stay.....the staff could not have been more helpful. Let us stay in the room past their generous check-out time. In addition to the superb restaurant in the hotel, there are a half dozen excellent ones within walking distance. The room was clean and comfortable and LOVED the blackout shutters.

I've stayed at the Hotel Roma three times now. It's always less expensive than I expect, and I'm pretty sure that they leave off charges (like meals at the restaurant when guests dine with you, and bottles of wine/water). They've recently renovated the restaurant (though they've kept those chairs) and the food remains pretty good. The staff is very officious and helpful. You cannot beat the location, right off the Piazza Maggiore. I have only two problems: those constant church bells (which they can't do anything about) and how most of the rooms are a bit small. And the showers are snug. And man, that wallpaper. But really, otherwise? This is such a deal compared to other places. The wifi is a lot cheaper than other places in Bologna (though still not free).
