“Would never recommend”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

The room smelled like smoke when we arrived, the shower was so tiny you could not move around in it and the whole room was dirty! That is just the aesthetic part of our stay. The service was even more horrific! The first night we were there we asked the front desk to make a dinner reservation for us and he proceeded to say, "oh this place is not even that expensive." They do not have wifi, so that is a lie. You can pay 3 Euros for one hour on their computer downstairs, which is the slowest computer I have ever worked on or go next door to pay 15 Euro. Our room was cold the whole time and when we complained they did nothing about it. The last morning we were there, drilling woke us up at 7:30 in the morning, and no one even bothered to apologize. The breakfast staff was always rude and the breakfast itself was nothing special. When we checked out the front desk did not even ask us how our stay was or anything. We were happy to leave this place!!

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

Given that the hotel is in a very good location in relation to the station and the main square it does itself no favours. The rooms were musty, staff seemed uninterested and gruff, and basic information such as maps of the city were not available at the reception area. The decor is very tired - seems to be a poor cousin of the hotel right next door, Tre Vecchi, which I would choose for preference were I ever to come back.
Also the heating was on overdrive and did not seem to respons to any of the controls!

“Convenience is the only real charm of this hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2011

The hotel is noting to write home about, it really needs some upgrades, but I'd stay there again simply for its location.

Breakfast is a bit of a scrum, as the basement where breakfast is served is very tiny. Expect your breakfast experience to be shared with fellow guests. There is a pretty good selection of food on offer, especially if you like pastries!

The room was clean, the bed was very tired and needed replacement. I'd hate to spend more than a couple of night on that bed!

The staff are cold, don't expect any warm welcomes, as the staff always appear too busy with their computer to serve at the front desk.

Room Tip: Watch out for pick pockets! In all my years of travel, Bologna is the only place someone has manage...

“Very well located but service lacklustre and breakfast poor”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

I was in Bologna for one night only on my way back from a holiday in Tuscany - could not get a flight from Pisa. So I had little time to explore the city and this hotel was perfect in that respect - the main square is 5 mins walk up the street. Other than that however there was little to recommend it - it is dated, smelled of cigarette smoke, my room was very small, reception was disinterested, breakfast was tinned fruit and stale rolls and you have to pay for internet access on their ancient PC, which I did whilst getting eaten by mosquitoes. I would not have chosen it in fact, but for the fact that it was the last remaining hotel room in the city according to hotels.com, who had to find me an alternative when I was double booked at Porta San Mamolo. I wonder if there was a conference on. My room rate seemed expensive, although I don't know if that was because demand had increased prices. On the plus side (quite limited) my room was extremely clean and the bed comfortable. I got a good night's sleep, although I could hear a lot of bathroom noises from next door at night and in the morning. Bologna by the way is a really lovely small city. I would definitely visit again but I would not stay here.

“More like 2* than 3* - avoid at all cost (it it will cost quite a bit!)”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

Probably the worst hotel I have stayed in! For the price they charge for a night's stay I was shocked.... The room, although of a reasonable size (I had what they call a superior double)was dirty, with bits all over the carpet and mold in the bathroom - which was small and very dated. The furniture was falling apart and I couldn't open many of the drawers or close the wardrobe's sliding door. The air con did not work and you only got one pillow each - not a recipe for a good night sleep. There were no tea or coffee facilities in the room and when I requested an iron at 4.30 pm I was informed by the less than helpful reception staff that they didn't have any for guests. Apparently they had an ironing service (at additional cost) but as the housekeeper had gone home it was not longer available that day. Breakfast was poor with a limited choice of stale pastries and tinned fruit, alongside some cheese and ham and bread (again a bit on the stale side). 5* prices for a 2* (if that) service. The location wasn't too bad, although it would have been much cheaper to stay further out and taxi it in every day!!
