We stayed in one of this hotel's apartments when traveling with our family this Christmas; we couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. Although the apartment had only one bedroom, the bedroom was large by American standards. In addition, there was a large living room that included a table that would seat 8, a sofa bed, and chairs and cabinets. The kitchen was also spacious and had a table that could seat six. The furniture was all modern with clean lines and in good condition. The floors were wooden and the bath tiled. The bathroom was spacious and included the largest shower I have ever seen in Italy.
The apartment has enough storage space that we felt we could live there, not just visit. Besides a 12 drawer dresser and two closets for hanging clothes, there were two closets/cabinets with shelves in the bedroom. The bathroom also had ample storage, and the entryway had a coat closet. Just three of us (couple plus adult son) stayed there at night, but our grown daughter spent her days with us, plus we were able to host out of town company without feeling crowded. It was so much better than a hotel room(s)!
Housekeeping arrived daily, changing towels and bed linens, and kept the place spotless. The kitchen was reasonably appointed with dishes for six. basic condiments, and some pots and pans. We made breakfast daily and also managed (by borrowing baking powder and buying flour) to make pancakes for Christmas breakfast and roast a nice piece of beef for a traditional Yule dinner. No dishwasher, but a washing machine and ample radiators to dry clothes!
The apartment is less than two blocks from Piazza Maggiore, the main square of Bologna. We were there in winter and found the heater to be quite efficient (even during a Christmas eve snow) and the hot water plentiful, almost too hot. We had feared that the apartment would be noisy since it was so central, but the double paned windows helped with both sound and temperature control. I fear it might be hot in the summer -- it seems to have only a window air conditioner?
The apartment is a few steps from the hotel, off a galleria. The door to the galleria is locked at night, and the door to the apartment building is locked 24 hours a day. There is a small elevator inside the building so you can avoid the stairs.
When we had problems (such as blowing a breaker), maintenance arrived in minutes. Housekeeping was not fluent in English, but the desk staff were.
