We have previously always stayed at the Guercino, as close to family who live near railway station. However we wanted to be more central this time and so choose Internazionale on strength of the reviews and also the price, which is comparable.
Best thing we did, we have to say. Superb big room, lots of storage space, bed is top hotel quality and very comfy, and large bathoom with bath as well as shower. We had room overlooking via de mille, and happily opened full length window during night (there is a liitle 'balcony' outside, don't worry) as it was a welcome change listening to the street life in the city, but if you're not happy with constant traffic and people noise, then best ask for a room overlooking courtyard. If you do keep the window closed though, you won't hear any of the noise outside.
Tons of choice of food for breakfast, quick unobtrusive service, and reception staff may seem aloof, but that is the Italian way, and when you need any help whatsoever they are happy to do this.
We've said this is the one we will definitely return to next time we visit. Just to point out two things in the bathroom though - the hairdryer is one of those 'elephant trunk' style ones over the bathroom sink (very good for demisting though!), and take your own soap, as we forgot, and the bar supplied is pretty useless! No tea making facilities in room, but they are happy to make you a large pot of tea or coffee any time of day in the bar or for room service.
Room Tip: Ask for room overlooking courtyard if you want peace & quiet.
