This hotel is located in the NW quadrant of the Bologna city centre, at walking distance (<15 min) from Piazza Maggiore. The closest stop of the bus from the airport (Aerobus) is "Via Ugo Bassi" (<10 min walking).
The hotel is in good shape, rooms are clean and quiet and the service is professional.
There are some things that I have appreciated most of this hotel: instead of investing in super-luxury (and pretty useless for the average traveller!) rooms, they opted for providing
1. A very good breakfast (mainly based on cakes and pastries as in the best Italian tradition)
2. Free unlimited wi-fi internet in the rooms
3. Free bikes (Bologna is best visited by bike, the center being quite small and flat).
4. Honest price (I booked directly on their web-site)
The next time that I need to go to Bologna I will undoubtedly choose Hotel Re Enzo again.
Before concluding, there is a review from another visitor that I cannot avoid to comment on:
>This hotel is located about 20 min away from the city centre,
>in a run down area which is completely full of graffitti and dog poo,
>in the evening/ night it is very intimidating
The hotel is *in* the city centre, which (as most of the city in the region) is delimited by a polygon of avenues called "viali".
Safety: Bologna's economy has one of its main assets in the university: you can see thousands of students everywhere and anytime. The neighbourhood where this hotel is located is *super-safe* and colorful: seeing hundreds of 20 y.o. boys and girls laughing, eating and drinking in one of the many bars and trattorias of the neighbourhood is **far** from something that could be described as "intimidating". I really don't understand this complain. Guess who draws graffiti?! (horrible practice of course, but unfortunately rather common in Italy).
Can't comment on the dog-poo: in 3 days I didn't see any.
