We had never been to Bologna even though it has been recommended to us so many times because of it's status as the food capitol of Italy (there's a reason they refer to it as La Grassa). We often travel for both business and pleasure and therefore have very high standards for hotels. We spent 2 nights here after reading the reviews on tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. The hotel and the staff were truly "majestic" and we wish we loved Bologna as much as we did our stay at this lovely hotel. The location is very central with all of the sights and shopping within walking distance. Every single member of the staff we encountered went out of their way to make us feel welcomed and comfortable here, including the team at the front desk who recommended 2 outstanding restaurants after asking about our preferences.
The room itself was beautiful with a balcony overlooking the main street, a separate dressing room and a large bathroom. If you are a member of The Leading Hotels group be sure to include your number in your reservation - they truly went out of their way with incredible amenities. The bed was very comfortable with top quality linens and we didn't hear any noise from the street, except one morning we were awakened by a jazz musician playing outside (not unpleasant at all). No complaints on the accommodations at all.
We had breakfast in the hotel both mornings and found the selection typical of a European buffet. Plenty of options including sliced meats and cheeses, yogurts and cereal as well as fresh fruit and an assortment of pastries and bread. The coffee was fantastic and there was always someone available to offer another cup. We also sat in the lounge for cocktails one evening and the service was very nice.
Overall, we were extremely satisfied with this hotel and if we found ourselves in Bologna again we would not hesitate to stay here.
