We had reservations for the Hotel Bonconte but were asked to change to the Albergo because of an ill guest. I believe both facilities are jointly owned.

The Albergo is a 400 year-old former convent where all the rooms face onto a large enclosed courtyard (where parking is available) The rooms are large but austere. They are very clean and the furniture is functional. The bathroom is modern and efficient. The breakfast area is light and sunny with a good selection. It is very expensive and not included in the room cost. We did not have to pay because of the transfer from the Bonconte (where breakfast is included). The staff was friendly and accommodating.

Urbino is small so everything is convenient. The Albergo faces the palace and Duomo and is a 2 minute walk to the central piazza. Although the Albergo was pleasant I would still choose the less expensive and smaller Bonconte. It is across from the city wall but not very far from the city center. Its rooms face the outside gardens and trees. The Albergo has a much too cold feel.

This hotel operate a cheating and deceiving policy!!1) I booked a "Junior Suite" and got a normal dbl. room with a sad view to the parking yard at a price 71 euro more than the pleasant dbl. room I had booked for our friends at the same hotel. The difference was that the Junior suite had an electric kettle, but NO powder coffee. We asked for the normal Nescafe sachets, but no, these were not available in Italy (??)2) On the night we arrived we told reception we had to leave on saturday in stead of sunday due to change of plans. We were told in no uncertain terms that if we did, we still had to pay the full price for that night! In the confirmation from the hotel the cancellation policy is explained with two lines in English. But further down 5 lines in Italian, which I am not able to understand! This is obviously a policy they use to cheat and deceive customers.
