Stayed at the Hotel Europa in March, it's out of Ancona itself, so you either get a taxi, 15 euros each way, or a bus 1 euro, the buses are cheap and frequent during the day but are few and far between in the evening. The hotel is ok, and my room was fine. Cleaned daily, fresh towels, and bed made.The buffet in the morning is a continental style, with cereals, pastries, yogurt, ham, cheese etc. Would be ok for a stopover, I stayed for a week and felt very out of it, only one local restaurant which had the atmosphere of a funeral parlour. There is no evening meal facility in the hotel.Staff were helpful, but not overly friendly, ok though.

My wife and I stayed here for one night after arriving on a ferry from Split, Croatia before catching the train the next morning to Venice.

This hotel is fine for 88 euros. The room was clean and had a decent breakfast. The hotel is not located within walking distance of either the ferry dock or the train station. Instead of staying here, I would probably rather stay at Hotel Fortuna - it is directly across the street from the train station. There is not a lot around this hotel (restaurants, etc.). The staff seemed to speak English fairly well - at least better than most of the people we encountered in Ancona.

If you are going to stay at this hotel and need to get there from the ferry dock, have a phone with you. When you leave the ferry dock, there is a taxi stand directly across the street with the number for the taxi, which you must call to get to this hotel.
