Grand hotel palace - Ancona
Fantastic views of the harbour

Costs about 90 euros per night. Singles are small, but comfortable and have a lot of old world charm - be it the maritime

painting adorning the walls, the complimentary savouries left in the room, the Huge windows overlooking the harbour (grand views from above 3rd floor).

There is wifi in the spacious lounge on the ground floor (feels like the drawing room of a mansion with luxurious seating, a fireplace, et al).

Breakfast is on the top floor - the best I had in Italy.

Rooms are comfy with character - singles were a tad small. Baths are large and clean, with the usual complimentaries and a large bathtub.

It has been a while since my visit but I am trying to catch up on reviews of some smaller-less reviewed properties I have stayed at.
As others have said, the photos look lovely but must have been taken 30 years ago. Everything was stale - from the decor to the food. Staff was as helpful as could be but don't go expecting much. I had business in town, but if I had it to do over, I would have chosen to stay in one of the beach towns further up or down the coast. This is a fine choice if you have to catch a ferry - which dock across the street. My room was very old world (and not in a good way) and the heat didn't take the edge off the damp cold. There were metal blinds/shutters drawn on the outside of my windows and it took two calls to the front desk to find someone who could remove them. But even then, the room was depressingly dark and gloomy.
There was a nice local seafood restaurant within a block that provided some cheer each evening but otherwise, the stay in Ancona was without charm.

We booked this through the internet and it looked lovely.. It was not. The entrance to the hotel said it all really, worn dirty carpet and smelt of hospitals. Our room was dull, the whole place smelt of hospitals and even our dog whined all the time, the first time she felt ill at ease from when we left the UK four days earlier.

Would never stay here again.

I stayed at the Palace for business for 2 nights in February. Its one of the only hotels in the area and is very simple and clean. DO NO expect anything you are used to in the US. Even a motel is fancier then this. But if you are looking for a place to sleep on a trip thru the Le Marche region, this place is perfect. Very nice staff, yummy breakfast and a clean room. forget a big TV, movies, in room internet, etc.
