We spent a lot of time trying to find the place! The website's directions could be more explicit as to WHICH motorway one should be leaving when following directions: **As soon as you leave the motorway turn right towards Tivoli, then go straight on for about Km 1.5 and take your first right (Via Rosolina)following directions to Villa Dell'Imperatore Adriano. The Hotel is just in front of the Villa entrance.** We were on the wrong motorway (GRA) to have been following these directions. Perhaps we were being ignorant.
Because the prices at the restaurant were a bit steep, we saved it for a special evening but were nevertheless disappointed. Although armed with a dictionary, and trying VERY hard to communicate and ask questions, the menu gave few clues as to how each offering was going to arrive. "Fish and potatoes" was the description. It took twenty questions to find out it was cod. Great. I get nowhere asking how it is prepared - grilled/baked/fried? When I ask hot or cold? Cold is the answer. Although I have to admit the raw fish was served cold, raw is not what I had been expecting. The local corner pizzeria did a better job with customer service and quality of food.
Comfortable bed, sumptuous bathroom, couch cushion missing.
In the mornings we waited an unusually long time for the waitstaff to find us to serve us coffee in the breakfast room. We are patient people, but this was ridiculous.
The town was charming and the Villa D'Este and Hadrian's Villa were what brought us there to begin with, so we were happy for having traveled to Tivoli.
