“Great location but no hot water”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2011

We stayed in the Prince of Navona for 2 nights. It's upstairs in a beautiful building in Rome but a bit tricky to find. The location was great especially since we wanted to be near the Jewish quarter. The beds were comfortable but the room very basic. Our main complaint was the lack of hot water. If more than 2 people from all the rooms had a shower, there was no hot water left, not very pleasant especially in the middle of winter. Also we could hear a lot of noise outside our room when people were moving about.

“Nightmare. Broken Bed, Slept on Floor, Kicked out of room after 1 night”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2010

What a horrific nightmare of a place. Please do not stay here! After looking at the wonderful RetRome website, I was convinced that this would be a great place to stay in Rome. We arrived late at night after a train ride from Florence to find a receptionist who was unhelpful and told me that we only had a room for 1 night (and so we'd have to move the next day). Since we were so tired, we went into the room. It was disgusting...dirty (dust, hair, water spots) and the triple bed was completely broken and fell to the floor. I asked the man for help, but he said there was nothing he could do. I ended UP SLEEPING ON THE FLOOR!!!!!!! The next day the told us we had to leave our room (I was at the Vatican at the time and was told to leave the Vatican and come back to move out). They ended up moving us to a completely different B&B (that was luckily clean and lovely). It was a scary and overall horrible experience. My WORST EXPERIENCE IN EUROPE VER.

“False advertising”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2010

My friend and I stayed at this bed and breakfast and, apart from its fabulous location, were terribly disappointed. For starters, we had requested a room with 2 beds and were intially given a room with only one. The man who checked us in (very nice, indeed, but who we later learned was the cleaner) told us there were no other rooms available (another falsehood, we later learned). The hotel's website promises:
* a continental breakfast served in your room. Instead, we were given vouchers (which we had to ask for several times and only got them in the evening -- the owners claimed they didn't have the keys to the cupboard) for a small cafe down the street which was closed our last morning. (Alex, the owner, blamed the cafe, claiming no responsibility himself and didn't even apologize when we checked out).
* a "variety of bathroom accessories" (we had to ask for hand soap and a hand towel-- forget about shampoo or a shower cap....!!!)
* coffee and tea (although we asked for it several times, the hotpot remained forlornly alone on the table)
* a minibar (what minibar??)
* orthopedic beds (yeah, right!!!)
The toilet seat was broken and the shower stall fell off. Alex promised to meet us when we checked out and after a desperate phone call to him a half hour after the appointed time, he claimed he was on another floor of the building (why would you wait for us where we don't know where to look?). And as the finale, Alex ordered us a taxi and promised to follow us out to speak to the driver so we wouldn't be overcharged but he didn't bother coming down. And there were dust bunnies under the bed and in the closet and 2 out of the 3 lightbulbs in the room were burnt out and the bedside lamp flickered more than it stayed on. And I mustn't forget to mention that the water was ice cold one night and the next morning (the maintenance man who we found on the premises showed us where to flip the switch if that happened again). These are just the highlights.... I keep thinking of other things but space is limited. In short, I would recommend that you NOT stay here.

“Perfect for students / young travelers!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2010

Stayed here last week in Rome...great deal, AMAZING location. It was so hot outside, but we could stop back at the hotel 2 or 3 times a day for a cold shower / air conditioning because the location was right in the middle of everything. They include excellent breakfasts, and great staff help...loved it! Right by the jewish ghetto - we had kosher meat for lunch every day, and pizza/pasta at night.
