“Pleasant week-end in a warm and familliar athmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2008

Before arriving to Rome, we received some e-mails from the staff containing important information about how and where to check-in and the time frame for the chek-in. In relationship with this, it is important to give the staff precise information about your arrival and departure schedule, in order for them to facilitate your check-in at the hotel.
We also got information about an "airport transfer" arranged by the hotel at a very good price. It proved to work very well (when we arrived, we were expected at the airport and we were also driven back to the airport "on time" the last day of our stay) and, compared to the taxis, really cheap.
As for the hotel itself it is very clean and we found it very appropriate for a 4 people family like ours (we have 2 boys aged 23 and 18). The staff comes only in the morning to prepare the breakfast. The woman in charge of it is very helpful and enjoys answering questions about Rome.
The rooms as well as the living room are nicely arranged and the bath rooms are well equiped, very clean and new.
Summing up, we had a very nice week-end in a warm and familiar athmosphere.

“not particularly as private as advertised -”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2008

The apartment itself is nicely decorated, good bathrooms, nice living space. it consists of two double bedrooms with bathrooms adjacent, and one single room.
There is no reception as the b&b is in a residential area of town, i booked a car through the proprietor to be picked up and was quite disappointed then to arrive and no one there to meet us. It was a very hot day and we were not allowed to wait inside the building and it took well over 30mins to get a number that worked to speak to the proprietor. We were told that the apartment was for our sole use whilst we were there for three days. Each morning a lady comes to do breakfast and then sits and waits for you to finish, she is very pleasant, speaks little english but i would have preferred that she went away and come back in an hour but no great hardship. If you are a couple on your own and would not be happy to share the apartment then its something you may wish to consider. Also on day two in the afternoon the proprietor let himself in, did not knock and proceeded across the apartment into the single spare room. We gave it 20mins then knocked to see if all was ok, he was sleeping in there and told us he would leave at 5.30pm, i found this rather intrusive and somewhat quite rude. Whilst it is his apartment , i did wonder if he had done the same thing the day before and we did not know he was in there. I just think its best to know that this may not be the first time and wherever else i have stayed in a b&B both in uk and europe i would not expect to share the accommodation in the afternoon with the proprietor.

  • Liked — clean and nicely decorated
  • Disliked — the proprietor letting himself in and sleeping in the spare room, coming in unannounced, did not knock

Rosso Arancio is a bed and breakfast and not an appartment for rental. The visitor had booked two rooms and not the all appartment. It is also normal that the proprietor could get in the appartment during the day, communal areas in the B&B are to be shared by the guests, the staff and the proprietor. In no way does the proprietor let himself in the bedrooms of the guests as described in the review written by the visitor.

“Home away from home!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 February 2008

My husband, 5 year old daughter and I stayed at Rosso Arancio for ten days while finding a long term apartment. It was very ,very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was elaborate for a continental breakfast and included pastries and cookies from the owner's pasticceria shop. Best of all were the staff who were very warm, professional and generous with their time and advice. The B&B is actually a converted 3 bedroom apartment so in a way it seemed more comfortable than staying in someone's home.

The location was fine, very near the metro and busses within an easy walk of St. Peter's in one direction and Piazza del Popolo in another.

Advice: There is no sign outside on the street and it is inside a rather non-descript building...so be sure to let the manager know your arrival time! The maid met us when we arrived.

“Great B&B in Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2008

Situation :
First floor of an apartment building not situated in the historical center, but in a nice area, really easy to reach : 15 minutes walking from the Vatican, and from the center, lots of buses, and a metro station 2minutes walk.

Accomodation :
The rooms are nicely decorated. Big and confortable bed, lots of arrangements (not really usefull for short stay, but still nice), big miror...
The bathrooms is wondefull. Very well arranged and equiped, with a big bathtub.
The breakfast is in the italian way : croissant with butter and jam, italian pastries, cofee, tea, milk, juice, cereals, fruits...
There is a nice living room, and a fully equiped kitchen if you'd like to cook by youself.

Holding :
The B&B is great. Nice reception. Everything is very clean, rooms are made every day.
The only aspect that is not perfect : you hear noises street.

Except if you can only sleep with total silence, this B&B is a real nice place to stay in Rome !

“A very nice B&B in Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2007

The b&b is very new, open since september 2007. It is easy to reach by tube, 200 metres from the Lepanto station on line A. The location is pretty central, close to the Vatican, very handy when you have to queue to enter the Vatican museums and visit the Sistine Chapel. It is also close to the field of March and some of the most important monument of the city.
The bedrooms are very spacious as well as the bathrooms. The beds are king size and you have an internet connection in the room. The owner told me that soon they will also provide computer with the connection to the guess.
They serve an italian breakfast. Pastry are very nice.
A very good choice, affordable, comfortable and very very clean.
