“conveniant for the vatican and good value local restaurants”

Very hard to find - useful directions on another review, so best if you can meet the proprietor Marcello there. There seemed to be a mix up between Rome B&B, the booking agency and Marcello - he had left before we arrived at our stated time of 9:30pm. Other guests let us in, but Marcello was looking for us at the entrance and local metro station for 30 mins, unfortunately with my non existent Italian and Marcello's English on the phone this took this long to resolve.

Otherwise rooms OK, but more tatty than the earlier pictures suggest. The Chinese on the way from the metro cornelius is good, and Gustosando next to the metro is also good. The Blue Ice ice cream parlour opposite the apartments is very good value - great after a hot day.

The breakfast was slightly bizarre, the women who arranged this arrived between 8:15 and 9:00, made the coffee and tea, set out the prepackaged bread etc and immediately left. So you needed to listen out and get there sharp before things went cold. As the week we stayed went on the toast disappeared and when it had been made, was left waiting for us.. As she was not around requests could not be made for anything. Apparently omelettes were available, but could not be requested in absence - not a real problem for us - but since she never hung around, we could never ask.

All in all reasonable value for money but odd breakfast arrangements...

“Great spot for a Rome stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2010

My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights and it was a great place. Marcello was friendly, helpful and available when the internet stopped working. AC was key as it was quite warm while we were in Rome.

It is perfectly located in relation to Metro/food/groceries, there is a restaurant on the corner near the metro that was delicious. As a previous poster said, Marcello helped us add Euros to a SIM card we already had.

Only Cons: slightly harder to find initially, we got lost. When you exit the metro, look for the orange sign on the wall outside of the turnstiles that says "Piazza Inerio" and follow it to the left up 3 escalators, then go right at the final stairwell.

Also have a day pack, as it is a little far out and doesn't lend itself to afternoon return for naps/rest, not if you're pulling the all day sight seeing we were doing anyway.

All in all a great place to stay in Rome, highly recommended.

“Perfect place to stay in Rome!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2010

I just left Domus Cornelia and highly recommend this warm and friendly place. Marcello could not have been kinder or more helpful. The facility is clean and located a short walk to the metro. Marcello helped us obtain a SIM card for our cell phone across the street, directed us to two excellent and reasonably priced restaurants within walking distance, and prepared a delicious breakfast each morning for our group of 4 family members. He provides free high speed internet, satellite TV and airconditioning. A grocery store is a few doors away and we bought water and sodas and he assigned us two shelves in the fridge for our stuff. A Blue Ice gellato is also across the street and there are quite a few ATMs nearby. An incredible value and truly a "home away from home"! Thank you Marcello for being the perfect host to my family.

“Domus Cornelia is Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 March 2010

Domus Cornelia is a great place to stay. Marcello runs a great place and the location is very nice. I had trouble finding it and Marcello came to find me in the neighborhood. My best advice is studying the area via Google Maps Street View before visiting. It gives you some bearings to use. It's a short walk to the Metro Stop (Cornelia) to and from the B&B. It's a few stops to the Vatican and Colisseum.

The neighborhood is full of nice places to eat for any budget. I would recommend lunch or some nice pastries at a place called Caffe Camerino as it was amazing and is just down the block. There's a huge newstand right across the street, a grocery store two doors down and many shops all within walking distance. One important note, a nice laundromat is close by.

The B&B was spotless and one of the cleanest places I've ever stayed. When we arrived, Marcello took us to our room and his assistant Lina was cleaning our room for a second time. The building is quiet for the most part. There is noise sometimes from the street but it didn't bother me at all. I will warn you, it seems ambulances are always running the streets in Rome with the siren on.

The kitchen is very nice at Domus Cornelia as I was able to buy food and drinks and keep them there. Breakfast was always ready for us everyday. Lina does a wonderful job and it was a great pleasure to stay. I would gladly stay here again anytime.

“Great host and location but a map would be helpful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2009

My wife and I stayed in the double room with private bathroom at Domus Cornelia mid June 2009. Our host (Marcello) was very friendly and willing to help us with general inquiries. The breakfast was excellent and we were made to feel very comfortable. The location was a short 5 min walk to the metro, with grocery stores next door. Clothing stores, an internet cafe, dry cleaning are all a very short walk away, though a small map of the local area would have made things easier.

The room itself was very clean and tidy and the private bathroom was immaculate. We did have a problem with the toilet flush that was not able to be fixed properly during our three day stay, despite Marcello's efforts to fix it. The street noise was very noticeable but airconditioning made up for the street noise in our opinion.
