“Great hostel in a local neighbourhood away from the tourist crowds”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2011

We arrived at the reception hostel and were taken for a short walk to the other hostel - a two bedroom apartment with kitchen. It was wonderful, especially if you are keen to self-cater, as we were. Our room was very small, but had a double bed and private ensuite, which was all we needed. There is a washing machine in the kitchen, which we didn't use, but would be very handy if you needed it. It is a few metro stops from all 'the sights', however we love staying in a 'local' neighbourhood away from all the tourist crowds, so we loved the location. There are plenty of supermarkets, pizzerias, bars, paticceries etc within a short walking distance. The metro is only a few minutes walk away too. The only (small) negative would be that we could hear everything that went on in the room next door to us. Didn't really bother me but I can imagine some people may not like it. Recommended if you want incredibly good value for money, a local neighbourhood, and the ability to self-cater.

“More than just ok”

Me and my friend went to Twincities hostel at the end of September, beginning of October 2010. We had a reservation for a twin room, no shared bathroom. We went to the address from Leonardo Da Vinci, and Francesco took us to another place on Ostience. On the road he said: you know the pictures on the internet? your rooms look way better; we said that he was joking. But he was not: the room was very spacious, clean, he had our own bathroom (I liked that bathroom so much that I'm thinking of re-design my own) with a large mirror, shower cabin, and we could relax on the balcony; and the beds were great - I had the best sleep! we could use the kitchen, the refrigerator and we could leave our luggage after the check out. The apartment was quiet and friendly - we felt as if we were at home; when we moved to hotel we could really felt the difference. I liked the people I met in there - I felt safe. The room was more than just ok. Francesco is a very nice guy, if you get lost, you can call him, he speaks very good English and gives you good advices.

The location is very good, close to metro station (like 2 minutes to Marconi station, but also close to Basilica St. Paolo). With the metro you are in the center of Rome in 10 minutes. You can eat cheaper pizza and great ice cream (gellato) in the neighborhood than in the center of Rome, and you can save money doing your shopping at local supermarkets.
Next time we came to Rome, we will undoubtedly stay at Twincities.

“Amazing!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2010

Our stay in this hostel was amazing thanks to Francesco who runs it! We had an amazing time with him and he is a good friend now! Hostel is easy to find. Metro stop is a 2 min walk down the road and kitchen is great if your saving money and don't want to eat out all the time! We are already planning our return to see Fran and hopefully book out the hostel one weekend with loads of us!

“Great value, excellent athmosphere, good location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2009

We had a very nice time in this hostel. Francesco was very nice and helped us a lot.
The hostel is well located, within less than 5 minutes from metro and bus. It is possible to cook, which was really helpful and saves you some money.
Great place to visit Rome!

“Nice place for the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2009

We stayed here for 5 nights in a 2 person room with a share bathroom. The room was clean. We had a shared balcony overlooking the street but since it's shared with a 6-8 person room next door, there are times when it gets a little noisy if you're trying to sleep. There's only one bathroom and it seems like its shared with te owner of the hostel so it can get a little busy. Francfesco, the owner, is a nice guy, but very hard to get a hold of. Even when we finally saw him he seemed like he was in a rush to leave. All in all it was a descent stay - the area had a cool vibe, living more among the locals. It's a good cheap stay if that's what you want.
