“A sad place to stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 June 2011

We were looking for a budget place to stay in, but had we seen the place in actual, we'd definitely pay more to stay elsewhere.

Place is near Termini and the subway, which is good. Neighborhood tends to be scary at night, maybe just because of the overall look and upkeep of the building and its surroundings. Community is Chinese and Indians, so it's hard to find authentic Italian restos nearby. Look of the B&B is sad, to say the least. The signage in the lobby is made of styrofoam, a little more effort could have gone a long way. The Chinese owner (?) doesn't speak English, just Italian and Chinese. It was also confusing talking to different people about our concerns - they seem to work at the Inn next door and just helping the guy out. There's practically no one at the reception counter all day long. Air conditioning is a free standing air cooler. Breakfast was a tetra pack of juice and some hard, dry pastry -- not really breakfast. Wifi was not functioning in the rooms, you had to go to the stairwell and borrow the wifi from the neighboring inn. Towels were given at the end of the day, since "they weren't delivered yet" from the cleaners. Shower area flooded always because of the poor design. Water heat in the shower fluctuated. Overall area was dimly light.. obviously the owner is trying to save on electricity expenses. Interior of the whole place was lacking.

To be fair, at least the beds were clean and fixed everyday. You could also get free water from the dispenser outside. But that's about it.

Overall, I think I researched too little on Rome hotels that's why I ended up here. Better get another hotel even if it's a bit more expensive. Not worth destroying your vacation over this b&b. You'd also feel embarrassed staying here. First time I experienced a sort of self-serve hotel/b&b.. I guess you really get what you pay for. But for this, I think I still paid too much for what we got.

Room Tip: just don't get any rooms

“bad location and they won't wait for us to check-in”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

We end up be charged credit card for 1 night for no-show at A Casa Di Mei. We arrive in Rome 1345 then it was long line at immigration. Then we took express bus to Termini, til we find our way to hotel it was 1700+. It was far from Termini (don't believe if they say it's near) yes it's near subway but not termini. The building was so scary, the main door was dirty. We buzz the door, no one answer. So we buzz another hotel, the unlock the main door for us. We walk up to hotel, knock the door (no bell) take a peek inside (from some holes on the door) it looks dark and the cctv outside was remove (left the cable hanging out) So we ask the neighbor hotel, the lady don't know anything about this place. I ask if i can use her phone to call, she kindly let me. Then the line couldn't be connected (not busy, but can't go thru and say something in Italian like the number u'r calling can't be connected) At this point, we were sure that we alredy move. So i got no choice but to look for a new hotel, not to mention that i have to drag my suitcase all the way from Termini station and drag in back to that area to find another hotel. I email complain to venere for their fault address or no. They say the owner wait for us til 5pm. Well, hotel supposed to be 24hrs.service? sucky sucky. It"s totally not fair that they charge me 1 night for no show, coz i already show, but they wait too little. Don't book here, the location not good, full of chinese and indian around, you won't feel like you're in rome.

“very basic accommodation for the budget conscious traveller”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 June 2010

You get what you pay for! This is VERY cheap accommodation for Rome so don't expect much. It was hard to find.. except when the owner gives you a biz card with the location & map on it! Shared facilities unless you book a room with en-suite. Breakfast is not plush.. all packaged food and not much of it. I have to say the staff were very friendly even though the owner and his wife do not speak english. When I visited, there was a student working for them who spoke reasonable english and went out of her way to be friendly and helpful.

“Avoid this B&B!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 April 2010

We made very bad experience with this Bed & Breakfast and I can only warn you if you are thinking to overnight here. We booked a room for a peak Easter weekend. First problem was that they were playing with prices. First price I was given was €80 per night. 10 minutes later, when calling to confirm, price was €100. However, accepted and asked to book for us. When we came to check in, we were told that our room was given to somebody else willing to pay more and pretending we were confused. No room prices in internet, Very impolite and unprofessional attitude. The place is located in a very unsafe area, avoid it if you can. Staff speaks only Russian and Italian.

“Clean, but only cold water showers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 March 2010

Was a clean room. Had wifi included. No AC, but fan was sufficient during the stifling July nights. Only cold water for showers though! Not even warm, and hotel owner/worker couldn't understand (or didn't care) when I brought it up. Price was right though.
