“Would definitely recommend!”

The rooms were comfortable, very clean, and the breakfast in bed is a wonderful way to start the day. This hotel is brilliant for the price, but what makes it really special is the hospitality and generosity of the staff! They were incredibly helpful in giving us information about the city, such as advice on public transport and restaurant recommendations, which really enhanced our short 3-day trip in Rome.

“SUPERB!!!”

I stayed at the Auditorium di Mecenate in January this year for five days, after reading great reviews on TA and they didn’t disappoint. We arrived in Rome tired and upset from Barcelona where we had been robbed and Auditorium changed all that. The rooms had no frills however were clean, all amenities were in place and worked. There was adequate heating, TV (although no English channels, but that’s not their fault), safe deposit locker, free wi-fi and the bathrooms were clean. The location is great- just a five minute walk from Termini- we walked to all the sites in Rome and none of them were un-walkable from this place- in fact walking in Rome is a beautiful experience! The Colloseo is a five minute walk. The rooms were cleaned meticulously everyday. In fact, we used to leave the room a bit untidy and would come back after a long day to find the room spotlessly clean, our beds made to perfection, our cupboards and even our desk arranged. It was like coming back home every night. Whatever this place lacks in the absence of frills they make up by treating their guests like royals. They gave us detailed directions as well as suggestions regarding the routes to follow for sightseeing, the best time to visit sites, best places to enjoy a good meals, et. all. They even kept our luggage for the night for no extra cost when we went to visit Venice. The owners/ staff were the best that we came across in our trip to Europe- friendly, courteous and very reassuring which we really needed after our previous bad experience in Barcelona. I would recommend this place for everyone for a great stay with no worries.
Only flip side: the wi-fi was quite slow.

“Good for its price”

Hotel is good for its price. We paid 75 euros per night and got a cozy room, clean, but very small. The bathroom was also very small, hard to get a good shower. The services were good, employees very polite and breakfast in bed was ok. But would not recommend for families, couples, it is ok for single travelers, low budget.

“Good location, awesome staff, average room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

4 stars for the location and the staff, 3 stars for the room. Actually the room itself was ok (I was there 4 nights), it was the location of the room. The place was hard to find because there is no signage (it's on the third floor of an apartment building) however the staff were brilliant. They gave great advise on planning sight seeing and their dinner recommendations were also good although most of them required a 15 mins walk and having been on my feet for 9 hours, that was pushing it. Breakfast was basic but good and it was brought to the room each morning. I had the single room (number 5) which is right at reception so was very noisy with people buzzing the door to the building and everyone chatting at reception but I guess that's why I packed ear plugs. The room itself was clean and comfortable however I do wish these places would realise that travellers don't need cupboards, give us a few shelves, a couple of hooks for coats and somewhere to throw our back and we're happy. I was also woken up the smell of exceptionally strong coffee each morning, to point where I could taste it and was finding it difficult to breathe, not great for someone who can't stand coffee. All in all, I'd stay there again but just not in that room.

Room Tip: Make sure you don't get rooms 4 or 5 they are at reception. Room 5 is the single room.

“Good location and wonderful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

We stayed 3 nights in Auditorium Di Mecenate Rome in Jan 2012 and were glad that we made the right choice. The hotel is less than 15 min walk from Rome Termini train station and within walk distance to major visiting sites. The room is spacious by Italy standard, clean, and quiet. The staff was very helpful, nice and friendly (thanks a lot for making our stay pleasant). The breakfast was basic and brought to room by the staff each day. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a comfy, affordable place to stay in Rome.

Room Tip: it is easier to walk to the hotel from the Termini train stattion than take subway.
