“Basic hotel - friendly staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2011

My wife and I spent two weeks at this little hotel. It is basic, and the rooms range from small to average size. The staff moved us after our firs two nights to an upgraded room because we were staying for two weeks. The shower in the first was not so good, but the second was very good.

The hotel, itself, is actually on the second floor of a small apartment building. You don't need an elevator. It is very compact, and you have to walk through a narrow hallway to enter the main hallway where a light european breakfast is served, each day.

The Staff was very friendly.

There were two very BIG pluses to this bed and breakfast: 1. Location, location, location and 2. Air conditioning that works.

The bed and breakfast (and that is really what it is) is a short walk away from the forum, the colluseum, termini, and within a nice walk from central Rome. Although we used the metro, we found that we could walk everywhere after we learned our way around.

If you are looking for a 5 star hotel, then this isn't for you. If, however, you are like us and just want a place to crash that you don't spend your days at, and you enjoy a break on pricing and enjoy being within walking distance - this is ideal. It isn't for everyone - but I've been to europe many times and have stayed at various places and I believe that this was just fine. No frills - but a place to stay.

Can't post pictures because it was stolen at the airport.....

“Super location”

The best thing about this hotel is its location. The area is absolutely wonderful, lots of little cafes and restaurants. Overall we enjoyed our stay here with a few minor issues. If you are arriving late at night, be SURE to tell them in advance. We did, twice, and still there was no one there. Luckily we had a mobile phone, called them, and someone was there in 10 mins. Our room was small but comfortable. The only thing wrong was that the shower door was broken. We also found the staff to be very friendly.

“Great location and friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2011

I chose this place because of the location and the price. It worked out very well. The rooms are small but not horribly so and they are very clean and cozy. The front desk area is tiny but the guys that work there are very nice and helpful. There is no elevator and the stairs are a little steep but not horrible and the guys helped me with my bag. The location is really perfect - just a few minutes to the Colloseum and a couple of blocks to the bus that takes you to the Vatican. It is just a short walk to Termini station.

As other reviewers have stated, the breakfast is not great but I didn't choose the place for the breakfast. It was mostly some prepackaged items, juice, maybe some fruit and coffee from a machine. I walked down the street to get a great espresso for about 1 euro.

The only gripe I have, and it's not that much of one, is that the wi-fi was down for about half the time I was there.

“Hot and noisy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2011

We were there in June of 2011 and it was really hot! The room did not have air conditioning. We slept with the windows open and all night we heard scooters zooming through the streets. I slept with an eye mask on and ear plugs in!

The breakfast was so-so. The best thing was the chocolate muffin. The machines for drinks gave us a lot of options for drinks which was really nice.

Our room was very small. Luckily we each just had a backpack. There wouldn't be room for big suitcases.

The front desk closes at 7:00PM which we arrived at 7:05PM and no one was there! Luckily, he sent a friend who lives in the city to let us in. Our phones did not work when we tried to call the numbers that were left on the door for emergencies.

The room was walking distance to the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, and the Forum. We walked to the Vatican too, but it was about a 2 and 1/2 mile walk.

“Turned out OK, but their website is very misleading...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

After staying here this past month, I can't really understand why it has a 3.5 rating. Maybe it's because the location is so great, because it definitely was....but this place left a lot to be desired.

It is located just a short walk from Termini train station (8 minutes maybe?), just far enough to where you're out of the immediate vicinity of the station which can be kind of shady. Go 8 minutes the other way and you're at the colosseum. So that's pretty fantastic.

Staff was...apathetic and not very interested in their guests (though the last day we finally had a friendly person).

Rooms were technically clean, but the building is so run down that the hallways and rooms look dirty-someone please paint this place! It would do wonders! The TV didn't work (which is OK because I didn't go to Rome to watch TV, but please don't offer a service and do nothing about it when you are told it isn't working)...the lid on the bathroom garbage can kept falling off, and the broken shower door fell on my foot while I was showering! (hello safety concern!) I overlooked all these things though because at the end of the day I had a bed to sleep in with wonderful AC to cool me off while I slept.

Not so sure I'd recommend the place, though...because they only have staff from 7a to 7p, and one night when we got back to our hotel, this poor south Korean couple had arrived during off hours and they told us they'd been trying to call the hotel staff for almost an hour so someone could let them in. It was midnight and they'd been stranded on the street as a result. There was a note on the door that read "will return in thirty minutes, please call this number if you need us" which had been there since 3 that afternoon, and the poor couple was saying to us "it says thirty minutes but we've been trying for an hour". Poor things. I hope they found shelter for the night.
