“Gianni is the greatest!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2011

We stayed here in 2008 and had the most wonderful time at Gianni's B&B. His breakfest is the best - he makes your coffee of choice and brings an assortment of breads, cheese, jam and yoghurt to the room. His wife also bakes a delicious cake - they definately aim to please!
Il cupolone is very well situated and the apartment is clean and comfortable.
There isn't anything Gianni won't do to please his guests! Stay at Il Cupolone - you won't regret it!

“FANTASTIC!”

Il Cupolone is like having your own apartment steps from the Vatican. Peaceful, clean, and charming. Gianni provides excellent advice and a superb breakfast including delicious cake made by his wife. He suggested local restaurants, sites to see and even events for our stay. All were positive experiences and complemented our vacation. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable, but most of all, the proximity to all of Rome is perfect! We were in walking distance to all the sites without being in the center of the caos; and this is with an infant in tow! I highly recommend this B&B, in fact when we returned back to Rome for our departure we stayed again because we loved it so much.

“Gianni is great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2008

Gianni is a great host! He's very friendly and helpful. His B&B is in a great location (very close to the Vatican) and it's very clean. There is a bus stop near the B&B, too, if you don't want to walk everywhere.

“At Home in Roma”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2008

Charming and comfortable B & B in great location within 5 minutes or less walk to the Vatican museums, Piazza San Pietro, and the bus to take you to the Piazza Navona, Piazza Del Poppolo from there you can walk anywhere..or just walk! Roma is an easy city to walk in and Il Cupolone is close to everything.
The best feature of Il Cupolone is the owner Gianni, he is a native of Rome and lives in the neighborhood...knows everyone and everything you need to know and gives great tips on restraunts, directions and tips on places you must see. He makes coffee how you like it each morning and his wife makes a fresh Roman style breakfast cake. Gianni will bring you breakfast in your room if you like but I enjoyed most talking with him and occassionally other visitors to Rome. Great value for the location, the comfort and the owner, Gianni...
I plan to return as soon as possible!

“Nice Place, Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2008

This is an excellent place to stay if you are on a budget and want to be away from all of the tourist hotels. The location is wonderful in that it is in walking distance of Vatican City and close to bus stops and the Underground. The B&B structure is different from the USA in that you actually stay in someone's apartment home and not a large house. This setup is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment/condo. One room has a private bath and the other two rooms share a bath. I had the shared bath and it only got annoying when the other guests stayed in the bathroom for a few hours and left a lot of their personal items sitting out. That is the only reason I give this place 4 stars instead of 5. This only happened one night, and for the most part, it was not a major issue. The shower had plenty of hot water and it felt great!

As far as the host, Gianni, he was wonderful. He gives many suggestions for food and sight seeing and getting around Rome. I found him to be amazingly kind and very friendly! His breakfast was a typical Italian breakfast that he prepares and brings to your room. He serves juice, coffee, tea, bread, yogurt, jams, and his wife's lemon cake.

Overall, the place is very clean and well kept. The rooms are large with a great A/C unit. The area is nice and not filled with a lot of tourist. There is a place across the street and close to the bus stop that serves great Peach gelato!
