“FAMILY GET AWAY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

We stayed in Villa Silj and it was beautiful. It is only a short distance outside of Rome no need to hire a car as owner has minibus to take or collect you.The local bus stops right outside the gate.
A beautiful villa with every thing you need. We went with 7 adults, 1 teenager, 1 toddler and baby plenty of room for us all. Very clean. Our bedroom opened out onto the terrace were we had breakfast every morning.
The owner cooked us all a meal on the night of our wedding and it was out of this world better than any meal you would get in a 5 Star resturant. You could spend your holiday just by the pool as it is quiet and relaxing.
The owner was always on hand for any tips and hints for things to do.

“Splendid !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2010

We stayed in Mezzaluna and it was great ( a lot of privacy, cool because it is in the shadow, quiet )
We went to Italy to visit Rome. Well, we couldn't find better. The villa is 5 minutes from the metrostation and within 15 minutes you are in the center of Rome. When we came back from bussy Rome, we landed in a peacefull garden with some wooden tables where we could read a book, chat with the other visitors. At the swimming pool ( exactly as on the pictures) is always a lovely breeze. The restaurants and shops are at the end of the street and if you like you can eat at the villa (reservation). We were very pleased with the welcomediner. Nightlife you can find in Rome, in villa Silj you can relax.
I always worked in tourism and visited a lot of hotels and places to stay. Well, this is one of my favorites.

“Step Back in Time”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 July 2010

We stayed in the West Wing of Villa Silj for seven days this past June. (Two familes with a total of four children.) We found the villa to be a step back in time: rustic and tranquil. We used the villa as a home base to travel back & forth into Rome and it worked out well. (It’s roughly 40 minutes into Rome since you have to take a bus and a train.) The bus stop is almost directly across the street from the villa and the ride to the train station is about 5 minutes. (The supermarket is a two-minute ride down the hill). The villa's grounds are a delight: apricot and plum trees are in the backyard and the kids were thrilled to climb a tree to pick fresh fruit every day. They also enjoyed the pool after a long day seeing sites in the city. The hosts were charming: attentive yet unobtrusive. Our children thoroughly enjoyed time spent playing soccer on the front lawn with their son. A nice experience for all.

“Quiet & Beautiful Place Just Outside of Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2010

We were looking for a place to stay near Rome that was close enough to the historic center but far enough that we could relax and quickly recover from jet lag as we began our Summer-long stay in Italy. We found the Villa Silj to be such a place.

The location was perfect. It is not far off the GRA (ring road) so it was a good base to easily to get around and in to Rome, in yet the property sits back in the hills enough where you don't hear any road noise.

The grounds are well-kept and very beautiful. There were other families there during our stay but the place is large enough that it still felt like we had our own private Roman villa all to ourselves. We stayed in a large, very comfortable detached house just behind the main house. The house had a lovely patio to enjoy the cool mornings/evenings and watch the kids run around and play.

Bernard and Eloanora, the owners, were fantastic hosts. They prepared a wonderful meal for us upon our arrival. We were traveling with 3 young children so they even made us a special "early" dinner so that our kids didn't have to fight jet lag on the first night in order to eat at the usual dining time. We enjoyed a glass of wine with them in the outdoor seating area and Bernard told the kids (ok, all of us) fun historical tales, some true and some we all wished to be true.

We really enjoyed the Villa and will stay there again.

“Very interesting place to stay.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2010

The location is very good for Rome if you do not mind travelling on the bus and train.
It was lovely to come back to Villa Silj after a day in Rome as it was always quite a bit cooler and the swimming pool was great.
The accommodation is basic but functional.
The owner and his family were great hosts, helpful, entertaining and extremely interesting. Bernard is full of facinating information and he definately leaves you thinking about life in a different way - facinating.
Will be back one day.
