Sweet Dreams has an excellent location a few meters from the Vatican. The accommodation is comfortable and clean. However I give this accommodation a one star rating because of the following:

1. Owner will add ‘tax’ to the final bill
Just before our final checkout we were told that there was an additional ‘city tax’ that had to be paid. This was despite the booking confirmation stating that taxes and fees were included and was more than the stated final amount due. During a ‘discussion’ with the owner over the phone she explained that the additional tax was normal and that everyone should know about it.


Also credit cards can be used to settle the bill during certain times of the day

2. Left luggage is not secure
Luggage can be left in the accommodation after check out but it is not secure. The only place for left luggage is either in the hallway or in the breakfast room. There is not a member of staff on duty some of the day. The only thing preventing passers-by from getting access inside the accommodation is a key-code on the front door with a fairly simple number. On the last day when we went to pick up our luggage we saw this number pinned to the door so that new guests could let themselves in.

3. Staff cannot be contacted
The booking confirmation had an Italian mobile number which we were asked to call 2 hours before arriving. There was no answer from the number on the day of arrival nor beforehand. Also there was no response from the email address given.

The staff we met were friendly and helpful, however the owner does not seem interested in ensuring that the guest and a safe and happy stay.

This place is the cutest little hotel I stayed in. The room has a pitched roof, was quite small but beautiful. It als had a little balcony with a table and chair outside which was sweet. The price is great for the value offered. The place is only few rooms and managed to some very nice and friendly people. Although there is no sign outside indicating the place, the address was clearly stated ont he booking so we dound it easily with the note on the door with instructions - very easy to follow. The hotel is located literally 2 minutes from the vatican so it was great for tours etc. Very much recommended

We stayed here at the beginning of November and it is a real gem. It couldn't be closer to The Vatican - we were able to get to Mass for 7am if the mood took us - literally 2 minutes walk. We also strolled there last thing at night - a lovely time to visit St. Peter's square.
Our room was beautiful - the wood panelling and crimson and gold decor were perfect. The sloping ceilings and tiny balcony made you feel you were in a birds nest above the city. I can't praise it highly enough.
Breakfast was plentiful and the staff were excellent. The kitchen was available for use any time of the day and the stairs kept us fit!
We would certainly stay here is we return to Rome and would recommend it to anybody who doesn't mind stairs and wants an authentic Italian experience.

There is no sign outside/above the entrance door (when i eventually found it) to say this is any type of accomodation. When i eventually found the place i was greeted with a badly hand written note giving instructions. The single room i stayed in is the smallets worst value room i have ever stayed in. Scaffolding was erected right outside the bedroom window and workman were there at 7.30am every mornng. It is very close to Vatican City etc but i only saw the owner once - for all of 1 minute. I would not recommend this as a place to stay in Rome.
