“This place is fabulous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2011

We stayed here at the beginning of November and it is a real gem. It couldn't be closer to The Vatican - we were able to get to Mass for 7am if the mood took us - literally 2 minutes walk. We also strolled there last thing at night - a lovely time to visit St. Peter's square.
Our room was beautiful - the wood panelling and crimson and gold decor were perfect. The sloping ceilings and tiny balcony made you feel you were in a birds nest above the city. I can't praise it highly enough.
Breakfast was plentiful and the staff were excellent. The kitchen was available for use any time of the day and the stairs kept us fit!
We would certainly stay here is we return to Rome and would recommend it to anybody who doesn't mind stairs and wants an authentic Italian experience.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the balcony (may be number 7?)

“Seek alternative accomodation”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2009

There is no sign outside/above the entrance door (when i eventually found it) to say this is any type of accomodation. When i eventually found the place i was greeted with a badly hand written note giving instructions. The single room i stayed in is the smallets worst value room i have ever stayed in. Scaffolding was erected right outside the bedroom window and workman were there at 7.30am every mornng. It is very close to Vatican City etc but i only saw the owner once - for all of 1 minute. I would not recommend this as a place to stay in Rome.

“perfetto!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2008

me and a friend of mine slept in this b &b for 4 nights and I found it perfect. it is 50 metres far from San Pietro, the b & b is very very quiet.
the personal is not there all day and night long therefore they provide you with the keys and you can come and go like you want. breakfast is from 8 am to 10 am and the rooms are cleaned daily. just, the b &b is at the third floor of a building withour elevator so it is not the right place if you have problems with stairs or if you are on a wheelchair. also the rooms are not big. I spent very little money for the stay considering the location and the service we had. i'd advice this B & b to anybody, it is very quiet, clean and cheap.

  • Liked — the position, quality/price
  • Disliked — there is not an elevator but there are a lot of stairs and the rooms are not big

“Loved Sweet Dreams”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2008

Having seen the pictures of the Sweet Dreams b&b I wasn't disappointed. We were welcomed by Gerry the housekeeper who was most polite and did what he could to make our stay comfortable. He was present every morning to serve us the breakfast and kept our room very clean. He even went out of his way to get us a wine bottle opener :) The kitchen is accessible which proves useful after a long day of sightseeing if one doesn't fancy sitting in a restaurant.

The proximity of the b&b to the vatican and the subway (ottaviano)is extremely useful plus there were plenty of cafe's and restaurants to choose from right down to being served a delicious meal in the what seemed like a family run restaurant downstairs. Seemed better priced as well then the restaurants further up the streets

As mentioned by someone else the stairs are a bit of a marathon especially when carrying luggage, but the proximity of the b&b to the vatican museums / St Peter's Sq makes up for it.If you look out of the breakfast window you can see part of the Vatican just up the street.

There are only 4 rooms but makes it feel more personal.Interior decor has character too.

  • Liked — Proximity to sites of interest, friendly housekeeper, cleanliness
  • Disliked — No outgoing telephone

“Close to everything near the vatican”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2007

This is a B&B which is to be used only by very fit people. The number of stairs (61) many times a day,can be difficult or it can be a wonderful way to become fit for the start of travel and an excuse for eating lovely luscious food. because you are very close to everything within the area of the Vatican and Hop Off Hop Off buses.
Accommodation is cramped but satisfactory for the fees charged, relativley good value for money. You need to arrive within business hours as many have trouble getting in when arriving late.at night. One never sees the Boss, even when wanting to pay the bill, plan on cash as getting the Boss to come to the premises is a difficulty for her ,and she made it clear she was a busy woman.
Gerry the housekeeper was so hard working and absolutley wonderful ,working hard to get our room ready early, as we were very jetlagged after a 22 hour flight. This was well beyond his job description and we were very thankful for that.
Beware no SINGLE beds only double.Although the steps are an issue with luggage etc. this is a lovely place among the locals and eating was easy as it was right outside the front door of premises. If younger and fitter would stay again.Reccommend Viator.com for shuttle from Rome Airport, very reasonable priced and prepaid makes life easy, in comparison to what others pay.
If catching train to Venice or elsewhere ,walk halfway to local train station and from there catch a taxi, & pay only 10 Euros to station rather than 50 Euros from B&B.

  • Liked — The close proximity to Vatican Square,St peter's basilica,Sistene Chapel. and transport to other destinations
  • Disliked — The stairs,61 of them but apparently this is not unusual in Europe and bedrooms are small but quaint.
