My partner and I stayed at Pepita B&B for five nights in May. We had an ensuite room. We had arrived after a 13 hour flight, two hours in transit, followed by another 2 hour flight. We arrived at Pepita's desperate for a shower only to find no hot water.
Antonella was very pleasant and polite although spoke very little English which is not a criticism as we were in Italy! I mentioned the hot water problem to her. Later that day when I approached her again, her husband told us that there was a technician coming the following day and they would get him to check the problem. The following day came and went and we still had no hot water and sadly that is the way it continued for the whole five nights, despite drawing this to Antonella and her husbands attention for three days in a row at which point we gave up asking and accepted our fate. Antonellas husband eventually told us that he didnt know why the water wasnt hot and then he appeared to avoid us until we left.
The bathroom was run by some noisy pump system which came on every time the toilet was flushed or the water was used. On the second night the power went out and we were told to stop using the bathroom as this was affecting the power. By about day three the shower nozzle seized up and had to be replaced by Antonellas father.
The breakfast was awful (see photo). Nothing was fresh and we had instant coffee which I wasnt expecting in Rome. I never had any of the breakfast and my partner only had it on the first morning to try it out. After that we ate out.
We travelled around Italy and France for two months and this was by far the worst B&B we stayed in and was also the only one where we couldnt drink the water from the tap.
All other B&Bs had a nice breakfast, fresh croissants, fruit, fresh coffee etc.
At the end of our stay Antonella apologised for the hot water problem but typically enough never offered any refund on our accommodation costs. It would have been appropriate and goodwill to have at least taken off the cost of one night. Maybe I was expecting a bit much.
Also the website says there is a television and radio in the rooms, but there certainly wasnt either in ours.
On the plus side the sheets and towels were clean and the B&B was close to the main train station.
