“Fantastic Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2010

I stayed at the Aran Mantegna for a couple of nights for work.
It is true that the hotel is not right downtown (you will have to take a taxi to go to town, which will cost you around 15 Euro each way and take 10 to 15 mins), but for my work the location was perfect.

The hotel is brand new, very spacious and clean. The staff is nice and speaks good enough English. The rooms are very original, with a modern decor and some quite entertaining lighting systems.

I got a VERY good rate for this hotel through my company, including breakfast (which is also very decent), so it makes it the best value for money I have encountered anywhere in the last few years.

Only (minor) downpoints would be for me:
- No free internet: You have to pay for this on top, which I find inconvenient. I would have preferred the room to be a few more Euro and to have this facility included. On another note I am not quite sure that the hotel is (yet) equipped to have Wifi in all rooms (I think even if you pay you still have to use an Ethernet connection).
- Not much free TV: Basically you can get CNN or BBC World for free. All other options are Pay Per View (no movie/Sport/Documentary channels on the go)
- I would personnally prefer if there would be a proper door to the bathroom/toilet, especially if I was not travelling on my own (these are sliding see-through doors made of polished glass) - I have seen in the comments that some other customers have had a problem with this.
- I think they will have swimming pool & spa facilities soon, which are not yet open (perhaps the rates will increase then though :()
Again: These are MINOR points, I am just detailing a bit as this is the only downpoints I saw to this hotel.

“Great hotel but a little out of the "core"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2010

The Aran Mantegna is a gorgeous hotel with large rooms and 5 star ammenities. The rooms are "high-tech" with more lights and gadgets than we knew what to do with and the staff are friendly. The one major drawback is that the location of the hotel is out of the downtown Rome core therefore a Taxi is required. On average, it took 10-15 Euro per trip to get from the hotel to a major attraction (e.g. Piazza Navona, Spanish Steps, Colosseum). There is very little surrounding the hotel but a hotel bar/restaurant etc. and a quaint little Italian restaurant across the street served us well for our 3 night stay.

“not too bad, a little expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2010

for the location, food quality, price.. was not too worth it for me. internet was super expensive, not too sure whether to blame myself for bringing work with me everywhere or to blame the hotel for charging so much money for jsut one-day use.
breakfast could be better, i like my soft-boiled eggs warm and soft and my orange juice not diluted.
room was nice and clean, so no complain about that.

“New modern hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2010

We stayed in this hotel as part of a Trafalgur tour. The hotel is newer and modern. Rooms were spacious and well equipped with minibar, flat screen tv and some really cool lighting. You need to play around with the lighting to see what all the numerous switches do. You need to pay for everything including Internet, tv or even music. The only things free on the tv are news channels, abt 2 channels in English. As others have commented, the bathroom door is see through and can be uncomfortble for non couples. Bahroom was decent and clean with plenty of space for hanging and storage of clothes, big vanity and sink and rain shower in bathtub. Location is not central, out of city but bus stops are nearby and we caught the bus to city no problems encountered. Not too many places to eat around the hotel and this was the annoying part. At 3 on one of the 2 days we were there, I got hungry so went to get some food. The few restaurants around the hotel were closed, siesta time I guess. The hotel dis not have room service between 2:30 to 7:00 pm I think it was. It's restaurant was not open during that time and although the bar was open, there was no bar food available. So between those hours, no food available. There is a supermarket open about 5 mins from hotel and you can get all your groceries from there including breads and cheese in case you are hungry. Staff were polite and impersonal. They should put some carpeting in the hallways as when the luggage or cleaning carts go past your door it sounds like a plane taking off. No fitness centre at hotel.

“Modern hotel. great room, far from centre”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

My wife and I stayed here as part of a Trafalgar tour. The hotel is very nice, very modern, large well appointed rooms (and as others have mentioned yes with cool lights - but I was more freaked out by the mirror - I still dont know if anyone was watching me..). The only issue I had (similar to most of the Trafalgar hotels) is location. It is a fair hike from Rome city. If you are on a tour it isnt a problem but if you are on your own, stay closer to Rome. But it is a very nice hotel.
