“cold room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2010

Maybe ok in summer, definitely not in winter. The heat is turned off around 11 pm, so the room gets really cold at night. The internet is also turned off around midnight. It's an adventure to take a shower when the bathroom is freezing cold. The "ok parts": good location, near the metro station, a supermarket nearby, rather clean room, small fridge. Things to know: the towels are not changed, the TV is super small, you are not allowed to bring guests into the room, there is a commun kitchen, but the you are not allowed to use it, except for breakfast time.

“Alright, with a few glitches”

Upon arriving my partner and I though this looked to be one of the nicest places on our backpacking trip through Europe. We loved the private bathroom and its location to the Subway as well as the Colosseum. (10-15 min. walk.). However, we had a problem with our bathroom sink...the plug was jammed down and cause the sink to fill up. The owner came and removed the plug for us with no problem. But during the night both my partner and I were woken up by one of the most foul smells we have ever experienced, coming from the drain. The problem was easily solved by clogging the drain with a towel and closing the bathroom door. The next night, the owner woke us up at 1am speaking very loudly on the telephone...it lasted about 15-20 minutes and then was quiet..however it was hard getting back to sleep because the courtyard noise travels through the window.
Take this review with a grain of salt because I'm hoping that drain problem would be fixed by now and one could simply ask the owner to be quiet in regards to his phone calls. Also, the breakfast is a packaged croissant and some tea...but there is a bakery a few steps down.
I would probably look for another place upon my next visit, but this place was OK.

“Very pleasent guest house a stones throw from the heart of Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 May 2010

Me and my partner stayed here for four nights in May 2010, it was a little difficult to find as there is no sign instead you ring a buzzer and a staff member will come down and take you up, it's on one of the top floors however there is a small lift. It was around a 20 minutes walk from the station and has a few restaurants around it and a supermarket across the road which was really handy.

The room was small and quiet with a tv and fridge, the rooms had en-suite shower room with hairdryer. The staff we friendly and very helpful. It took us approximately 20 minutes to get to the Colosseum which was very easy to get to as you just keep walking down one rather one road!! The surrounding area was not the best and looked a bit run down, but we had no troubles and felt safe walking really late at night there.

The breakfast was basic, including a vacuum sealed croissant, cereal coffee and small cartons of juice...

All in all we thought this was good value for money and in a good location for exploring Rome on foot.

“Comfortable Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2007

I stayed at the Bed & Breakfast Citta Eterna in Central Rome during the second weekend of Sept this year.

Its a small B&B with just about 3-4 rooms (all have private bathrooms) and a nice clean kitchen. We arrived at around 9.30pm and the owner Adrian (not sure of the name) came down to receive us. The B&B is situated on the 5th floor a nice roman building.

We had a warm welcome by Adrian who had kept the room ready and was waiting for us. He helped us with the luggage and oriented me with the B&B and the facilities. After that he gave me a map of Rome and showed how to get around from the B&B.

As I had gone with my aged parents, I was a bit concerned. But once we checked in, we were totally relaxed. The room and bathroom was sparkling clean. There was air-conditioning which kept the room cool (it was terribly hot in Rome that weekend). We could use the kitchen any time we wanted and that really helped me as my father takes medicines and regularly needs something to eat and drink.

Morning we were given a good and filling breakfast. The tables were neatly laid out and we could make our own tea and coffee.

The B&B is quite easy to reach from the Termini station. You need to take the bus 105 in the direction Grotti Celoni or tram 5 and get off at the 3rd stop - Principe Eugenio and immediately cross the road and take the immediate left. From there you will see a Restaurant Pizzeria on the opposite side. The B&B is the 2nd building from the that restaurant.

All in all we had a comfortable stay and I certainly recommend to people of all age groups.

  • Liked — Clean rooms & bathrooms, reception by the owner, breakfast, kitchen and location
  • Disliked — Lift! It was an ancient lift which could accomodate only 2-3 people!!!
