My wife and I booked the Limonaia B&B through the Bed and Breakfast Association of Rome. The B&B of Rome is basically just a Rome B&B site that has many different independently owed properties.
My wife and I arrived in Rome and were excited to arrive at this huge Villa in the Roman suburbs. We were met by a boy who led us into an apartment that was quite beautiful. He gave us some info on Rome, we paid him up front for the 3 day stay, and then he led us to our room. I was a little surprised when he led us into the musty basement. The room was exactly as pictured, although VERY small, even by European standards. My wife and I were ok with the accommodations although it was a little musty in our basement room. We went out into Rome the next day, had a great time, and then returned in the late evening. When we opened the door we immediately were taken aback at the thousands of ants that had invaded our room. Thee covered the bed, the floor, and had completely inundated our luggage. We immediately got our hosts and they came down to inspect. After my wife and had taken ALL of our clothes, etc. out of our luggage and had shaken all of the ants out, we asked our hosts to call us a cab and we found a hotel. I called the B&B Company the next day to explain what happened and the representative promised to check with the owners of the property. Her reply to me included an outright lie by the property owner that my wife and I had food with honey in our room and that it was our fault the ants had invaded. My wife and I did not have any food in the room, only water, so we were very upset at his allegation. We obviously requested a refund of our prepaid charges for the two nights we did not stay, but the owner refused. I was pleased that the B&B Association of Rome agreed to refund the fee we paid them, and they were very gracious in their efforts to recover from their property owner.
My recommendation is, use the B&B of Rome (---) to book your B&B stays in Rome, but do not stay in 'Cod. 030 Coppede' - La Limonaia', unless you prefer musty basement apartments covered with ants. I also recommend you NEVER prepay cash for more than a night at a time. My wife and I have learned our lesson.
