“Cheap and cheerful!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2010

I stayed at the CK bed and breakfast for two nights and found the place to be fine. We had originally booked Aenea's b&b but as there was a problem with the bathroom upon arrival we were moved into CK's instead. Location was good for arriving and departing to Rome as it is fairly close to the Termini train station and terravision bus stop that takes you to the airport. It was about 15-20 min walk to the Colloseum which was fine but a bit far from some of the other attractions, but still within walking distance - wherever you stay you'll never be close to everything as the tourist attractions are pretty spread out in Rome. You can use the metro or buses but we opted to just stick to walking. The area of the b&b admitedly seemed a little scruffy but then a lot of Rome was scruffy looking- the whole city seems to suffer from graffiti and other man made nasties; shame really. However we felt perfectly safe at all times of the day and night in and around CK b&b. Once inside the building it was clean and well maintained. The room we stayed in (no. 1) was large enough, clean, comfortable, well furnished and well presented and the en suite served its purpose. Breakfast consisted of an offering of cereal's, toast, yoghurts, cakes, juices and coffee. All of which you prepare yourself which I actualy think worked well as you could eat as much/little as you want and as fast or slow as you want meaning you can get out and start sight seeing quickly. Sure there is no reception or staff as such but then this doesn't pretend to be a hotel; its a comfortable bedroom with breakfast provided. If you're looking to stay in Rome and don't want to pay the earth for a room that you'll hardly spend any time in as you're going to be out all day enjoying the city, then I'd highly recommend staying here.

“Fine for going back to and sleeping”

My husband and I spent 6 nights here in the Moroccan Room. We found the staff helpful and the room was fine for our needs. I agree with some of the comments here, but really think it depends on what you are looking for in accommodation. We wanted a place from where you could walk to the major sites, close to well-priced food and transport that we could go back to at the end of a long day and sleep. We got all of this. The breakfast was ok too.

The only real annoyance was the lack of consideration from other guests who were at times extremely noisy when arriving late at night, as well as the fact that the TV didn't work for one night, but this was fixed during our stay.

“bad area, no reception attendant”

overall not pleased with our stay. i agree with the prior reviews. the b&b was in a dodgey area that you wouldn't want to walk around in at night. the b&b is essentially a few rooms in a appartment building. there is no reception.. just a desk and a hallway with 3 or 4 rooms. overall we did not feel very secure in the building. the room decoration was nice.

“BAD BED NO BREAKFAST”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2010

I booked a room at the CK for my honeymoon. I checked it out on their website and it looked great; funky rooms and right near the Colosseum. It was a bit pricey but hey it was our honeymoon! The area the 'hotel' is in is dodgey. Right near the station and not the sort of place you would want to walk around at night. There was also a large group of men gathered outside each night that stayed there till late. The road noise added to the shouting and loud talking didn't exactly allow for a good nights sleep. But I could have put up with all that. The bed was rock solid and the pillows were very flat. We used two other pillows that we found in the room but these were taken out after the first night . We never saw any staff to get replacements or raise any of our concerns because no-one lives at the hotel. Also on the first night I found a condom wrapper in the room and false eyelashes in the bathroom which made me wonder if the room had been used just before our arrival. I didn't then want to leave anything valuable in the room while we were out. The most annoying thing however was the breakfast that makes up then name of the place. It is NOT a BED AND BREAKFAST. It is a room with a very grotty kitchen next to it the has tupperware with stale cornflakes in, UHT milk in the fridge, a very small loaf and a toaster, some very poor quality coffee but no kettle and a two ring electic hob that didn't light up to tell you if it was on or not. The cups were dirty and cracked and so were the plates. It was like staying in a bad student flat while they were out!
When I wrote to complain (because there was no-one there to complain to) I was offered a free extra night on my next stay or for anyone I recommended the place to! This was really expensive for a HOSTEL and ruined my honeymoon.
There are much better places to use when in Rome.

“Overpriced, loud and no reception”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2010

I am not one to complain but we felt ripped off in this b&b when we could have paid same amount for a 4* hotel somewhere else.
Stayed in this hotel on Friday night after booking at last minute. Despite booking last minute, the hotel cost us 80euro for the night - far too expensive! We arrived earlier in Rome then antispated and there was no one around or any contact details for as to how we could get into the hotel - in the end we had to walk to a hotel around the corner and asked them to google a mobile number for us! Check in was fine. Room itself is very nice but forget trying to have a ly-in in the morning, there is no soundproofing to the kitchen area and it is very noisy. The breakfast was not very good, only cornflakes and toast, there was no fruit juice left when we went to breakfast and you have to wait 10 minutes for kettle to boil on stove. We were also told when we arrived that we could leave our bags there for the day as we had an evening flight yet in the morning they would not let us do this and there was no one there in the day to let us in and we had to go to the station instead and pay to leave our bags.
Positive point is that it is a good location, close to metro and walking distance to collessum.
