I spent 3 nights at the CK B&B, which I found by chance after trying to find a place to stay during what seems to be a pretty busy season. I couldn't be happier: from now on, if I need a place to stay in Rome I will contact the CK first.
- Location: 10-15min walk from the Termini station. I personally enjoy walking and the location was excellent if I wanted to get anywhere. Otherwise there's a very convenient subway stop two blocks away.
- Home: if you're looking for 24hr room service and a luxurious vacation, there are plenty of 5-star hotels in Rome. If you're looking for a place where you can feel comfortable, not deal with 20 people asking if you need anything, and do your own thing, this is it. The CK really felt like home. I can't avoid mentioning the bed: it was SO comfortable with fluffy blankets. I hate hotels and their starched, stiffed sheets.
- Rooms: my room was definitely spacious, decorated in a Middle Eastern theme. There is a common area with a kitchenette, coffee pots, and basic breakfast foods. In short, there's always a cup of coffee or glass of juice available. Despite facing a busy street, I never heard anything more than the hum of a car and slept through the night wonderfully every time. It only took me a second to settle in and feel comfortable. There was a TV with a DVD player, and the bathroom has the basics without leaving you wanting more.
- Personnel: I was greeted by "N." who explained to me where everything was in the house, issued me a receipt (having a receipt issued by a family business in Italy is a huge sign of confidence), and gave me the keys. Funny story: I had a couple of huge hangovers after nights of drinking, and "A." (room service lady) was kind to just let me sleep through the day. No hassles at all, no nosy phone calls asking repeatedly if I'd like the room serviced. Wonderful.
- You will like it if: you're on a smaller budget. Great for a getaway for singles or couples. If you actually enjoy making yourself a cup of coffee in the morning (like myself).
- You want to look elsewhere if: you go on vacation because you want to seep at a hotel. I'm not sure I would recommend this place for families with children.
I truly hope they'll have a room available next time I'm in Rome.
