“They made me feel like family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2010

I have stayed here on three different occasions, and it has been wonderful each time. Remo, and Angela are great people, and host. The food was delicious, and plentiful. I had a not so pleasant experience when I missed my train stop, and got sepereted from my group. Contacted Remo on my cell, and he took care of everything. He had his driver waiting for me at the next stop that took me to my destination. Overall 10 out of 10.. would reccomend service to anyone who is looking for a pleasurable traveling experience...

“Don't miss staying at Remo and Angela's B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2010

This is a bed and breakfast that will remain a highlight of our trip to Italy. Remo and Angela were the perfect hosts. The very best Italian meal you will ever eat. Wonderful entertainment and most of all they just made us feel like we were part of their family. I certainly would recommend this bed and breakfast to anyone. They picked us up from the airport and took us to the train station when we left. You will love this place and the family.

“Just Like Visting Family in Rome-Remo and Angela's Bed and Breakfast in Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 May 2010

We stayed for 4 nights at the B&B. We first met the Owner Remo in 2004 as he provided all our private tours with excellent service in Livorno, Rome and Naples. Upon arrival at the Rome Terminal we were met by one of Remo’s Drivers holding a sign. The main Rome train station was about an hour away because we were travelling by car and in traffic. However there is a subway station 5 minutes from the B&B in which we were dropped off and picked up as needed daily. The subway took us directly to whatever area we wanted to visit such as the Vatican(less than 5 minutes by subway), Spanish Steps etc. The subway station is the last stop “Battistini” on the red line and took about 20minutes to get to the main Rome train station if needed. The B&B has 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms with a common area of a full kitchen and living area. The other room was empty so we had the whole B&B area to ourselves. The B&B was very clean, simple and neat. The B&B is on the bottom floor of the owner’s fabulous home. On our first morning both owner’s greeted us. Angela brought coffee and a light breakfast while Remo asked about our plans and if we needed any tours etc. When we were ready, Remo provided us with a city map and dropped us off at the subway station. When we returned in the afternoon we called Remo and he picked us up from the station. We had asked Remo to point out a supermarket so that we could shop for some snacks. He took us to their neighborhood supermarket where his family shops and surprised us by escorting us into the store and introducing us to the workers. With this special treatment we were able to sample lots of deli items and cheese before actually purchasing. He even suggested some wine. We also advised Remo that we would be cooking dinner but instead he said he would show us how to cook real Italian spagetti and assisted us in selecting the menu ingredients. This was a great highlight for me who love to shop in European markets but never know what to buy or how to speak enough of the language to get help for specific items. Angela actually cooked the spagetti one night for us as Remo had to work late. During our stay we really felt like part of their family. They are very easy to speak with and shared lots of laughter. At no time did we ever feel pressured to purchase any tours or made to feel like we had to work off our stay as one review reported. We never felt like they were intrusive or forceful as we spent a lot of our time just relaxing in the privacy of our B&B to unwind. Although the B&B is not centralized among the tourist attractions, the subway was very easy to use and the area is a neighborhood so it was also very safe and quiet. It was actually a difficult departure as we felt like we were leaving family. This family works very hard and is very good at what they do. The only regret is that I forgot to ask Angela if I could purchase some of her home made tomato sauce. Thank You Remo, Angela and Ohana(family)

“Not bad, but owner expected us to work while on vacation???”

We stayed here with my husband for our 1 year anniversary and my parents 30th anniversary in 2004. We asked a travel agent to help us find a place that we can stay on a tight budget, and she thoroughly recommended here. The rooms were great, and clean and we had our own bathrooms.

The owners, Remo, Angela, and their family all speak English, so that was a plus.

The home is not in walking distance of Rome attractions, so we relied on Angela to take us to the subway. She went out of her way to make us happy. Because the home is relatively far, we probably did not take advantage of all the Rome sites at night. We did get a taste what a local Italian neighborhood was like, so that was a plus.

The breakfast was really good and we have no complaints. Angela also cooked us an Italian dinner which was also good. They were flexible and cooked whatever we liked. Unfortunately, we had the impression that Remo wanted us to pay for dinner everyday, which we opted to go on our own to try some of Rick Steve's recommendations.

There was one experience during our stay, we felt a little uncomfortable about, so I thought I mention it here. I don't know if anyone else had experienced this type of treatment or we were misunderstanding the culture (They did live in Canada for 20 years, so I don't think it is the latter). Remo and his family were planning a huge party during our stay, and Remo expected us to SERVE their guests food/drinks for this party!!!! ---We were shocked and offended, because we were on VACATION! That was when our stay there turned sour. We politely declined because we were meeting a relative for our last day in Rome and wish to have other plans.

It is now 2008, so I hope things have changed. One thing they should understand... Guests that pay for a B&B's don't intend to work and should not feel compelled or obliged to work...it's a VACATION. Also, owners should be sensitive to people who are on a budget and not make the guest feel guilty for not buying their Tours or buying dinners everyday.

We were disappointed on how we were treated and because of this, do not recommend this place to any of my friends. I also do not recommend the travel agent that helped us book this place either...That's probably why I have relied on Tripadvisor ever since.

  • Liked — Clean
  • Disliked — We were on a budget and they expected us to buy additional tours/dinners

Response to Review on Trip Advisor:

We would like to comment on this review and address the guest’s concerns and complaints of our B&B. In regard to nightly dinners, we do offer home cooked meals at an extra charge however we do not pressure our guests into buying our dinners as they are able to freely eat out or use the B&B kitchen. To experience the Italian family and culture we offered these guests a chance to attend a family party at our home. We had hired staff to serve the party and suggested that maybe to feel as part of our family they may want to participate by serving along side our family. However in no way did we require or pressure them to work at the party. They were asked to join the party as one of our many guests. Our offer to welcome these guests as one of the family has been grossly misinterpreted. We pride ourselves with thinking that we are not the average B&B that hands the guest a room key and leave. We are also a well known 18 year old tour company with an excellent reputation and offer our guests tours with no obligation. We have many repeat guests and people who ask for us by name. We are greatly sorry that these guests completely misunderstood our intentions to make them feel as part of the family and experience Italy. We are curious as to why these guests did not approach us with their concerns while at our B&B 4 years ago.
