“A home away from home”

We stayed for a week in the Belli Suite of Really Rome Apartments in June of this year. From the time we arrived, over-tired and overwhelmed after 13hours of travelling, we felt at home in this apartment. Shelley, the owner, was lovely - very welcoming and friendly and happy to show us around the apartment, how to operate the necessary appliances and answer any questions, however silly they may have been.

The apartment was very spacious and tastefully decorated. The kitchen contained all appliances and equipment necessary for cooking, though I have to admit not a lot of that happened as there were so many great eating places nearby, including a restaurant below the apartment. There was a front loading washing machine in the bathroom.

What we were really taken with was all the small touches around the apartment such as the basket of snack foods plus a recipe and some ingredients to whip up an authentic Italian meal. There was also a bottle of wine, which had been selected by the owners. The small blocks of chocolate on our pillows, on arrival, certainly won me over. There was a mobile phone that we could use if we wished, lots of tourist maps, a folder containing really important information such as restaurant recommendations, where the nearest internet points were, the supermarket, etc.

For anyone planning a holiday in Rome, I would definitely recommend these apartments.

Absolutelly fantastic, more than I expected and imagined would be. Shelley, the owner, was a fantastic hostess who welcomed us on our arrival and was gracious and patient with our numerous questions. She was easily accessible and provided us with a cell phone

The location was ideal and close to the major tourist attractions.
The apartments are sorrounded with restaurants, fruit stands, pharmacy, market, post office and near trasportation.

We truly felt at home and safe and I highly recommend the accomodations for anyone who wants to experience an independent stay in Rome.

“Terrific Trastevere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 March 2007

We had a wonderful experience staying from March 3rd through March 7th, 2007 in the Belli Suite apartment available from Reallyrome. The apartments are conveniently located in the Trastevere neighborhood, a couple of blocks from the Tiber River, near the Isola Tiberina. It is an easy walk to the Pantheon or Campo dei Fiori, and very easy to use public transportation from this location. The apartments are on the first and second floors, which would be the second and third floors in the US, and only accessible by stairs. Shelley, the owner, was there to greet us when we arrived and to answer any questions we had about the apartment, the neighborhood or touring Rome. She provided us with an Italian cell phone and a phone number so we could call her if necessary, but our needs were well provided for during our stay. The apartment was very clean, roomy and homey, and Shelley has thoughtful touches everywhere. All of the basics you might need are provided: microwave, TV, linens, towels, dishes and pots, some basic pantry staples such as salt, pepper, tea coffee, oil and vinegar, even a small washing machine.

Being part of the Trastevere neighborhood was one of the highlights of our trip. Outdoor restaurants, gelaterias, and gifts shops were mixed in with local grocery stores, cafes and pharmacies. The neighborhood is also host to a wonderful mix of people: local residents, Italian families, and European and American tourists. Trastevere seems especially popular with Romans and other Europeans.

If you don’t need the services of a hotel (no front desk!) and aren’t afraid to plunge in on your own, this is a terrific place. We were traveling as husband, wife, college-aged son, and high school senior daughter, and there was something here for everyone. Shelley, thanks for a great stay, we can’t wait to return!
