I booked to stay at the Happy Holiday hotel online and was booked here automatically after entering my credit card info on the happy holiday hotel website in October. I got to rome at 7 pm and arrived to this dark buildling that was locked. After getting into the building when some guy entered the place i knocked on the door and had some lady tell me that she is from Hungary and can't speak english and closed the door. I went downstairs and heard someone speak english. I approached her and she told me she was visiting from the states with her daughter and how the place was run unprofessionally and she had to stay in another place the first night as the owner did not show up and waited 3 hrs the next day infront of the hotel for the owner to show up. She gave the owner's business card and I called from a local pay phone two cell phone numbers and the landline and nobody picked up. I was in rome in the evening with nowhere to go! I stayed in the best western across the street. The next day I called again many times from a pay phone and nobody picked up. I went and knocked on the door and the owner was not there. I went back to the best western and man at the best western called crazy holiday's cell and he picked up! I have a feeling he was screening his calls. He told me that my room had flooded and that he had another property that he would send me to. The best western told me i should take this offer as all hotels were booked in rome this weekend as it was a long weekend. I had to take another cab across town and waited outside some residential buildling until this italian old lady and her husband showed up with their kid and spoke no english. We ended up staying at their bed and breakfast which was a totally different bed and breakfast. The place was dirty but was walking distance from all tourist attractions. It was great that this other bed and breakfast (although the place was dirty) took us right away, and the best western was clean and amazing. But stay away from Crazy Holiday hotel. I basically got left in rome with no where to go.
