“Lovely quiet bed and breakfast the right side of the station termini”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2006

Andy e Lu (not to be confused with Little Britain's Andy and Lou - ha ha) is a lovely quiet, clean, safe bed and breakfast with under a 10 minute walk from the Termini Satation, the North side of the station and the 'right' side of the tracks, in my opinion.

Being so close to the station means it is very convenient if you arrive by Ryanair flight to Ciampino Airport which from memory is about a £7 return bus ticket and run very regualary (in time with the arriving/departing flights). or also, as we did take the train to Naples for a couple of nights... we came back to Rome after Naples and unfortunately couldn't get booked into the Andy e Lu.. which is why I know that the Andy e Lu is the 'right' side of the tracks... after staying at the other bed and breakfast on the East side.

The room at Andy e Lu was very clean and spacious and having your own front door key and 'apartment' is very groovy and you can come and go as you please safe in the knowledge that your apartment is safe and monitored but also left to your own devices.

I'm afraid I can't remember the names of the local resturants but we found plenty of very reasonable (much more reasonable than centre of Rome) around the hotel and after a very long day of walking Romes streets, all we wanted was a nice couple of cold beers and a tasty meal. Pus there was a bar that did very lovely cocktails!!

Most of our meals were about 25 Euros in total with soup starters, nice pasta and couple of beers.. plus a couple of sorbets/ice creams to finish off.

There is a restaurant near the Andy e Lu which is an African type restaurant and I wouldn't recommend it... it was very strange... mixed up meat served on stodgy pancakes, eaten with fingers and curry flavour... the lighting was sooo low in there you could barely see what you were eating... which might have been the point of low lighting!

The breakfast at the Andy e Lu was not great (dry crackers, soft cheese, jam, strong coffee, juice etc) but was enough to fill you up until lunch anyway and that was all we wanted.

Overall, the Andy e Lu is a great little find and I would defaintely recomemend as a top class budget accomodation.. I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival which is always telling and very nice...

Very good.. I would stay again!!

  • Liked — Cleanliness, closeness to station, budget, also close to underground for exploring Rome
  • Disliked — Breakfast was a bit sparse but not bad for budget

“Andy e Lu won't break the bank...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2005

The Andy e Lu bed and breakfast is a six-minute walk north from Termini Satation, and very handy for the Terravision bus than brings many Ryanair passengers in from Ciampino Airport.
We found it very tidy and comfortable, and Via Castefidardo, where it is situated, has several good restaurants, as well as the Julius Ceasar pub for those late-night Peronis.
I've also stayed in Andy e Lu's sister hotel, the Castelfidardo (same entrance), and the same comments apply regarding its cleanliness.
I paid 80 euros (got a 5% reduction for cash) for a twin room with shower, but no air conditioning, which made nights a bit of an ordeal in the heatwave conditions of late June 2005.
Breakfast was a big disappointment, however - a half cup of cool coffee (they tell me Romans like it that way. Are they kidding?) and a croissant.
Overall, good value, if you are looking for budget accommodation in a decent room with good security
