We stayed 5 nights in RomeBed in mid July 2011. RomeBed is essentially an apartment that has been converted into guestrooms. There are 3 rooms off the long corridor. The rooms share 1 large, bright and clean bathroom. The rooms have basic but ample furnishings with desk, cupboard and side tables.
The owner, Mauro, was most helpful. We arrived at the airport quite late - Mauro provided us with a transfer to the rooms (at a reasonable price), where he showed us all of Romes sights on a tourist map and gave us his tips for the best Gelato and some restaurants!
The rooms do not have aircon, but we found the overhead fan to be sufficient. The shared bathroom is clean and spacious. We rarely had to wait to use the bathroom as there are only 3 rooms to share between.
Security wise, the rooms are very secure - the apartment is located on the 3rd floor of an old, very charming building - there is a small lift, so no need to lug your bags up the stairs. Mauro will give you a set of 4 (!!) keys which give you entry to the various doors in the building! There would be no way anywould could break into that place!!
RomeBed is not a hotel, but it is not trying to be. It is simple, budget accommodation in a city which can otherwise be very expensive. We found it to be perfect for what we needed.
Mauro also provided a laundry service and he allowed us to leave our bags in the hallway until late afternoon on the day of checkout until we were due to catch our train.
All in all a good stay and we would definately reccommend to those in the market for simple, no-fuss budget accomodation!
