Just got back from 5 nights at the hotel, and was unsure what to expect, our room was lovely, see pictures. As everyone says it's a bit out of the city centre, but you will pay a lot more for one in the centre. Our bedroom did not have a kitchen so didn't have the problems others have mentioned. It took us about 50 mins each time to get into the centre, so if you only there for a couple of days perhaps you need one more central. The restaurant next door serves good food, but doesn't open until 7.30 each everying and there is not much round the hotel so nowhere to have a walk afterwards, but we enjoyed our stay and the staff were helpful and friendly. Most people go to Rome to sightsee so after our meal we were happy to head for bed. Don't take big suitcases as you have escalators and steps to negotiate, and remember ladies there is a dress code for the churches, nothing above the knees and shoulders to be covered.
Just to give you directions from the airport catch the Terravision bus (on the left as you come out of the terminal) a return ticket is 8 euros p.p. this drops you off at Termini at the side of the metro station. Catch metro line A in the direction of Battistini to Valle Aurellia (8 stops) come out of the metro station and in front of you is the railway station for FM3 line in the direction of Viterbo. Catch train to Balduini (2 stops) check on timetable at top of steps which train stops at this station (about every 20 mins) usually called Cesina de Roma. Come out of station and hotel is on your right. This journey costs 1 euro and either buy a ticket at the metro station of from the tabac in Balduini.
So going back train from Balduini to Valle Aurelia (direction of Roma) 2 stops (check timetable usually train called Roma de Ostience) then Metro line A direction of Anagnina and back to Termini or if you want to go to Vatican only 2 stops and get off at Flaminio or 4 stops to Spanish steps (Spagna) and when going back to airport go out of Metro station in the direction of Masala to Terravision airport bus (all sounds confusing but quite easy once you have done it.) but allow plenty of time to get back to airport.
We bought the Roma Christiano 3 day bus pass (25 euros each) which includes train and metro travel for the 3 days and found it good value. Hope you have a good holiday.
