“Good hotel and value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

Just got back from 5 nights at the hotel, and was unsure what to expect, our room was lovely, see pictures. As everyone says it's a bit out of the city centre, but you will pay a lot more for one in the centre. Our bedroom did not have a kitchen so didn't have the problems others have mentioned. It took us about 50 mins each time to get into the centre, so if you only there for a couple of days perhaps you need one more central. The restaurant next door serves good food, but doesn't open until 7.30 each everying and there is not much round the hotel so nowhere to have a walk afterwards, but we enjoyed our stay and the staff were helpful and friendly. Most people go to Rome to sightsee so after our meal we were happy to head for bed. Don't take big suitcases as you have escalators and steps to negotiate, and remember ladies there is a dress code for the churches, nothing above the knees and shoulders to be covered.

Just to give you directions from the airport catch the Terravision bus (on the left as you come out of the terminal) a return ticket is 8 euros p.p. this drops you off at Termini at the side of the metro station. Catch metro line A in the direction of Battistini to Valle Aurellia (8 stops) come out of the metro station and in front of you is the railway station for FM3 line in the direction of Viterbo. Catch train to Balduini (2 stops) check on timetable at top of steps which train stops at this station (about every 20 mins) usually called Cesina de Roma. Come out of station and hotel is on your right. This journey costs 1 euro and either buy a ticket at the metro station of from the tabac in Balduini.

So going back train from Balduini to Valle Aurelia (direction of Roma) 2 stops (check timetable usually train called Roma de Ostience) then Metro line A direction of Anagnina and back to Termini or if you want to go to Vatican only 2 stops and get off at Flaminio or 4 stops to Spanish steps (Spagna) and when going back to airport go out of Metro station in the direction of Masala to Terravision airport bus (all sounds confusing but quite easy once you have done it.) but allow plenty of time to get back to airport.

We bought the Roma Christiano 3 day bus pass (25 euros each) which includes train and metro travel for the 3 days and found it good value. Hope you have a good holiday.

“Bad service, bad location but nice rooms”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 August 2011

Too far from the city, about 1,5 hours with train and then change to metro. Trains heavily delayed or cancelled every day. Taxi to central Rome costs about 25 euros. You cannot use the metro after 8.30 pm, then it is closed... (No night buses to the hotel).

Nice spacious rooms, ok standard. No views. Most balconies in shadow. If you use the kitchenette you have to pay 30 euros!
If you want to use the swimmingpool you must use a bathing cap and pay 3 euros.
Internet (fee) properly working. Good restaurant (the one and only) very close to the hotel. Nothing of interest in the neighbourhood.

Nice man (about 50) once in the reception, but the other (younger) ones were rude and didn´t speak more English than "yes" and "no"... We therefore couldn´t get any help or advice from the staff!

Nice polite staff in the breakfast room, but unhealthy breakfast. Undrinkable coffée, machine didn´t work all mornings. No air condition in the small breakfast room which was in the cellar without any windows.

Our room was just cleaned once during the 5 nights stay, we had to ask for toilet paper.

I think that the hotel so far has got too positive reviews here...

“nice but beware if you are a family”

The positives - the room was very roomy and the hotel was reasonably clean and a bit nicer than the photos on this site. The breakfast was very fresh and comprehensive

Careful of the try ons - they change €30 for cleaning the apartment kitchen which is a disgrace and we refused to pay. the pool is not open air as shown on the site but is enclosed and not open to kids. the gym costs €10 per visit.

The issues - we are a family of 4 with 2 small babies. we specifically infomed the hotel of the need for a gound floor apatment as we had a pram and needed to evoid any issues with carrying the pram upstairs. they put us in a first floor apartments with a balcony which is dangerous for kids. the balcony has a plinth and then bars which nearly act as a climbing frame! we could not leave the kids near the balcony. the hotel tried to deny our specific request and actually tried to say there were no apartments on the ground floor - which there are

“Nice Hotel & Good Value For Money!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 May 2011

We stayed here for 3 nights and loved the hotel!! Yes it could do with a some work doing to the outside of the hotel but the inside was lovely. I think we stayed in the smallest room they had but this was still spacious and very clean, we had our own veranda outside the room which could have done with having a some work to it but cant moan about this as we hardly went on it as we were out of the hotel all day everyday.
I have seen a few reviews saying bad things about this hotel and I dont understand why as this was a really good hotel and staff were very friendly and very helpful!!
The breakfast room was small but we never had trouble getting a table, breakfast was nice however their is no hot option which I was a little disappointed with. Their is a pool but it doesnt open properly until June and it is for over 18's but unless your staying for a week you probably wont use it as there is too much sight seeing to do!
The Hotel is situated just on the outskirts of the town but their is train station literally 20seconds away, u get tickets from the shop which is also 20 seconds away, if you get on the train and get off on the second stop (Valle Aurella) you can walk to the metro which is also about 20seconds away, this willl then take you anywhere in the city! 4 Stops is the spanish Steps, 2 stops is the vatican city, If you want to go to the Colosseum then you have to stay on the metro until the termini then get on another metro but this only took us about 40 minutes and that includes waiting for the traoin and metro.
Rome isnt expensive for food and drinks and their are loads of water fountains for you to refill your bottles (free)
Next to the Hotel is a lovely restaurant, it was very cheap as well, my partner and I had pizza, pasta ane large beer and one big bottle of water and it came to 24 Euros, I would definitley reccomend you go their as the food was really nice!
We went on one of the afternoon tours as a company had left flyers in our hotel, we booked it fine and they even paid for our taxi to the office but coming back was a bit of a night mare as they had to drop everyone off first with us being the furthest away, it took us over 2 hours to get back to the hotel so if u decide to do the tour I would recommend you ask to get dropped off at a metro station as it will be a lot quicker.
I hope all this helps and I will definitley be staying at this hotel again when we visit Rome next year!!!

“Good value, but needs renovation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2010

We spent three nights in this hotel. It's a bit far from the main sights in Rome - You need to use public transportation which is close to the hotel. Rooms are spacious, but need some renovation. Awesome, small family-runned pizzeria is couple of step behind the corner down the Carolis Steet.
