“The Hidden Gem of Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2011

I was so fortunate to find this hotel during our travels in Rome. Looking for a hotel in Rome can be a bit overwhelming, however this hotel really feel like old Rome at a very reasonable price. Staff is incredibly friendly as its run by a family from Rome. The hotel is owned by an older lady (known to Romans as Nona) and her daughter, Lucia. They were so helpful during our stay that we promise to stay nowhere else upon our return to Rome. They upgraded our room at no additional charge b/c no one had booked during our stay. Nona would go out of her way to make us feel comfortable in any possible way. Please disregard all previous negative reviews, as we feel we are very critical about lodging, and Dimora Storica is the perfect spot for any Roman experience.

“Absolutely Horrible”

I wouldn't wish our experience on anyone. This 'hotel' was positively the worst hotel we have ever stayed in, the people who ran it are insanely rude, even going so far as to say that we sabotaged our own bathroom. There were no locks on the room, hardly anything worked, and the 'included breakfast' was at best terrible. My fiancee was served cold tea and i was served under average coffee. When we got up to our room which was not ready, there were no towels, no toilet paper, no tea or coffee facilities, the bath flooded, there was no drain in the bathroom, so that was obviously an issue after the bath flooded. All in all just a bad experience.

Close to the subway and 10 minutes from Colosseum. Around the corner rental for scooters. Excellent way to enjoy Rome.

“Overpriced and rude staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2009

It is not a hotel, just a room in a big apartment block. It was dirty and small and the inclusive "hot breakfast" consisted of stale croissants and coffee made from a vending machine (couldnt believe it in Italy!) in the caffe opposite. The manager Lucia was extremely rude and unhelpful and virtually threw the loo roll at me when i asked if we could have some more for our room. The white towels are only changed once every three days which is gross.
Overall, if this were half the price then it would be fine as the location is very good in a trendy area of rome and all you need is a room to crash in, however i wouldnt recommend this to our worst enemy!
