“Disappointing experience”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2007

My daughter and I stayed three nights at Central Rooms B&B as we were in Rome to spend time with friends. It is budget priced and well located except that you need to carry your luggage up two floors. The bathroom has a pump to the toilet which makes the most hideous noise and it seems to be activated when people run water in any of the other adjoining rooms which is a bit disconcerting.
My concerns - Lucy the hostess wanted us to recompense her for personal bank charges on our deposit transfer even though the correct amount was transferred to her account and the charge looked like a standard bank charge.
Our first morning she accused us of smuggling an additonal person into our room even though only two of the beds were used and she did not appear to be asking any of the other guests if they had had an additional person in their rooms.

I found this sort of behaviour very inappropriate especially as we had paid in advance and we are decent and honest people. I guess it was her way of making us uncomfortable because we would not come up with the extra euros to cover her bank charges. I would not recommend this experience to anyone and I would not trust Losey - the name my daughter applied to her - we did not feel happy leaving anything of value in our room after this experience.

“Home away from home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2007

The location is superb. You are literally five minutes away from all the main roman attractions. It is located in a residential building, nothing too fancy. It is on the second floor and it has no elevators. We had a gigantic room, the only drawback was that the bathroom was across the hall but it was private. It was so hot so when the windows were open it was noisy. But Lucy got the air conditioner for us and it was much quieter that way.

Lucy was so worried about us not drinking coffee that she gave us lots of cookies and other things. She truly cares about her guests and wants us to feel welcome.

It is not fancy but it is homey and for the location, the price is great. It was great to be able to walk "home" in the middle of the day for a little nap and not feel like we were missing anything.

I would stay there again without any reservations and next time we'll be sure to bring our kids.

“Good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2007

Good location, its is central to everything and rooms are decent if a bit shaby. There are only 3 rooms, we stayed in two of these during our 3 night stay. No Aircon (fans and portably noisy aircon unit avialable). Breakfast is brought to your room but is pretty poor, good italien coffee but only food is packeted pastires not fresh or anything else to eat.

If your on a budget (this place is very good vaule) then i'd recommed this place. Also owner is very helpful and friendly.

downside: no elevator. but i can overlook that, since it is rome where everything is so old.

“Great place to stay in the heart of Rome”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2006

This B&B has 3 large rooms in the heart of Rome. 2 minutes walk to the Trevi fountain & 5 minutes to the Spanish steps, it is central to everything in Rome. The rooms are all very large, with tall ceilings and are nicely decorated. The owner is very lovely, and she will tell you about good places to visit if you ask. She brings breakfast to your room every morning (but it is very basic, 1 croissant each and coffee). The only negative aspect of it is that the toilet makes a very very loud sound every time you flush it (as it runs on a pump), and the shower is so small you cannot move. We also ran out of hot water very quickly. And for those with heavy luggage, the 2 flights of stairs you have to make every day will not be appealing. If you are after something simple, cheap and in a good location, this is perfect!
