I found Forti's Guest House (a guest house is not a 5 star hotel !) around 1974 in one of the american "bestsellers" of those days ... something like "Italy for X $ a day". I'm a Belgian who travelled all his life (am 63 now) and was even a tour guide to China as a hobby. I liked the owner and the way he exploited his guest house. A 5 star hotel is fine (been there, done that, many times) but a real traveller only needs a comfortable bed and a place to wash himself, especially in a city like Rome (the "little sheep", yes we tourleaders call our tourists by that name, who stay in their hotels because they are afraid of the unknown ... I knew them very well). Forti's had/has this bare necessities ... and so much more. I dare you to compare prices in Rome, the one who considers Forti's expensive for what they offer doesn't even have a clue what money can buy. I would go back any time ... and I will Mister Cabell !!!
