“Its clean but not a hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 May 2010

It's not a real hotel. The rooms are inside an apartment in a private building. You have to carry 4-5 keys with you for all the doors. There isnt even a hotel sign on the outside. (they do issue receipts)

The breakfast is to be taken at a bar nearby and its quite poor (cofee + orange juice and maybe a small pie)

There's no real reception but they are there if you call from within the hotel (we never had to wait more than 5 minutes).

Rooms were small, just for two persons (you can barely walk), but VERY clean and look new. Free wifi with very good speed in the room.

I have spent nights to much worse hotels... The place despite all was clean and very close to metro stations.

“its really not a hotel”

The Vatican Holiday is collection of condos maintained and operated by the Vatican Holiday Group. Because of this, your experience there is unpredictable. The rooms are clean and the price is great, so if you do decide to go get the telephone number of a contact person. There is no single check-in area. This can be rather confusing and frustrating after navigating the streets of Rome for hours. Because you will be in a condo, you may be staying in a building a few blocks away from the main section - also rather frustrating.

“.A little too shady”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2008

This was a pretty bad experiance for us, especially considering that this was the last leg of our European tour. We got there at night, it was dark and this was basically a hard to find and badly labelled building, which was hard to get to with the suitcase. When we got there, it was an apartment building with one unit converted into a bunch of rooms. However, the guy said we were to move to another location. We're tired and it's late, and now we're walking to another B&B. It was a very nice and renovated room, but then he said we would have to move AGAIN the next day! So next morning we got up, he came, and moved us to this 3rd location which was someone else's B&B. We were basically moving because a large number of people were coming to that location. We were basically booted from there, which was odd and not very nice.

The new room we got wasn't very spectacular at all. There was actually a blood stain on one of the sheets, and the lady wouldn't change it.

Location was pretty much the best part. We could literally see the Vatican and the line outside of the Vatican from our room's window. The Breakfast cafe was in the same building, which was convenient.

“Okay if you can unlock the door”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 May 2008

We arrived at about 10pm due to a fire on the railway that delayed our arrival. The B& B is part of a complex that has about 10 or 12 other B&Bs and so there is a locked gate on the street front with buzzers that you buzz each separate B&B with. It was a pretty dodgy street and area so we turn up loaded with our backpacks and buzz for Vatican Holiday. No answer. We try constantly for the next 15 minutes and we are getting increasingly nervous as it is a dark area anda few dodgy people lurking about. Finally a lady from a different B&B on the street front lets us inside the gated complex as she was probably sick of us hanging out under her window freaking out about what we were going to do. Let me stress here the street was dark, eerily quiet and no taxi's around or anything to take us anywhere else.
Relived we get inside and find the B&B and buzz the door. another 20 minutes of buzzing until it is opened by the stupid person whi bruns the place. He has been asleep and couldn't hear the buzzer because the buzzer is located in the front entry, not in his bedroom. He offers no apology and so finally we get into our room which is clean and okay.
The next evening we go out for dinner and come back and using our key we try and get into the b&b. Bute we can't unlock the door!! 30 minutes later another guest from the B&B arrives and lets us in. NO ONE told us that to unlock the door you need to turn the key once to the left then twice to the right.
This place is crap. The person running it is rude, the lcoation is okay but there could be better places close to food outlets and the main attractions. I can stress how uneasy I felt being locked out the place because until you visit Rome you don't realise how dodgy it can be. My husband and I were followed by a dodgy guy in a big overcoat for several blocks until we ran quickly away from him. I recommend you stay elsewhere or at least home the idiot that ran it in 2007 has left.
