My wife and 2 daughters had the opportunity to travel through Italy in August, 2011. We have never been to Rome, let alone Italy. At the time our host was Sal who was invaluable in providing us with recomendations as to where to eat, sight see, etc, including how to avoid line ups. Accomodations and location were excellent, hopitality A1, overall experience excellent. Sal informed us unfortunately that he was leaving this property to run his own B&B, I am sure his new venture will be excellent as well. Fortunately, we were there during the transition and met Monika as well, and based on our experience, I am sure things will continue to surpass travellers expectations. Both were super helpful in assisting in all matters including when I had issues with my credit card. Sal and family, we hope to visit again soon,Monika, all the best as well!!

We stayed for 4 days at Obelus and were very pleased. We were 3 adult women in the quad room which gave us plenty of space. It is located outside the historic center but the metro was very close (less than 2 blocks) and Colosseum within in walking distance. I liked being away from the tourist area so the location was perfect for us. And the price was right!

Monika and David welcomed us warmly after a disheartening incident (see Taka H's review) and went above and beyond to ensure that we had a pleasant stay in Rome. Within walking distance of the Colloseum and restaurants, Obelus is a great venue. We would definitely stay here again and urge you to check it out!

We stayed at Obelus flor 4 nights in October. The bedroom (3) was clean and comfortable with en suite, air conditioning, tv and hairdryer. There is also a small dining room and kitchen where our hostess Monika served a more than adequate breakfast (juice, toast, cheese, cold meats, croissant, jams, cereal, yoghurt, fresh fruit & coffee). As we had to leave early on our final day Monika left cereal, yoghurts, fruit and juice in the fridge so we could help ourselves. The dining room also has a kettle and tea and coffee so you can help yourself and also an honesty bar for wine and cold drinks. Monika was extremely helpful in advising where to eat and visit even phoning attractions to book tickets for us. We were also able to use the hotel computer to check in and print off our boarding cards online which saved us quite some time at airport.

The hotel is a little way from the centre of Rome, but only 10 minutes walk from the Colisseum and 3 mins from the metro so combines a nice quiet location with ease of access to the main attractions. There are plenty of good quality restaurants and bars within walking distance. We particularly enjoyed the gelato at L'800.
