We (couple with 12 year kid) spent six nights here, and enjoyed our time thoroughly. The first days we were up by the street, with a nice view and windows in three directions, and then in the garden apartment, with a terrace of our own to spend the soft evenings in. In both apartments, the rooms, including shower and WC, were clean and the kitchen sufficiently well equipped even for the occasional dinner cooking. Some furniture shows signs of wear and tear, but not to any striking degree, and the beds were brand new. The wireless was a bit erratic, but the cable connection (there was a cable in a drawer) worked fine. The breakfast provided consisted of biscuits, coffee, milk, butter and jam, but we did not expect more in Italy and could easily complement it at the local stores. The garden is nice and a very good spot for a morning coffee. There are a lot of driving on Viale Vaticano but it is not a major artery, and we had no problem with street sounds. The proprietor is not very talkative, at least not in English, but immediately helped us when we had any issues (extra key, internet connection). There was a TV set in each room, though we hardly turned them on. As said in other reviews, payment is at arrival, but VISA is now accepted. Cipro Metro station is 6 minutes away when you go out, 12 when coming home, the difference being explained by the topography: Villino Cecilia is basically on top of the hill. For us, staying behind the Vatican was great, as it gave us a good sightseeing walk every night. If you have heart problems and thus should not go much uphill this place is not to recommend, but otherwise I have a really hard time understanding how it can have gotten so negative reviews. No cat hair to be seen anywhere, and the dog, Cecilia, is very friendly. Perhaps things have improved a lot lately?
