We returned from Rome and stayed at this monestary guesthouse. The location was wonderful with only a 10 minute walk to Vatican Square. Everyday when we walked out of the guesthouse, we were greeted by St. Peter's Basilica Dome. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is plentiful with granola, yogurt, cheeses plus good strong coffee and much more. The rooms a simply decorated as we expected at a monestary but very comfortable. The location is quiet so we were able to get a good nights sleep after a full day. I highly recommend this guesthouse if you want a good location and much value.

I stayed for almost a week during October 2010 and was so surprised with the whole package for this accommodation. A single room, private bath, air cond and a fantastic breakfast cost Euro70. This is a real deal in Rome. The location alone is worth that. Everything is so close, transport, The Vatican, good restaurants. The reception staff are very friendly and will help with any details you require. WiFi is available at good rates.

If you are a leader of group travel and making Rome your destination there is NO better place for your group than Santa Maria alle Fornaci which is fewer than 5 minutes from the Vatican. Restaurants and food stores are close by as is a laundrymat. An inexpensive "SKYPE" type internet phone store is a block away. This guest house has clean rooms, good showers, air conditioning and a good breakfast all included in what are EXCELLENT prices. The Trinitarian priests operate this place. There is a large room for gorup meetings, a computer for email access and a TV lounge.
While the rooms are small they are comfortable. There is no curfew.
The staff is warm, friendly and eager to help you. My wife and I on private visits to Rome stay here rather than a pricey Roman hotel. This place is a must and I am sure you will not be disappointed with it. A great find in Rome next to Vatican City.

Four of us stayed two nights in two of the rooms in Rome at Casa S. Maria alle Fornaci. The rooms are small and very basic but spotless clean and very quiet. The breakfast was wonderful and large based on european standards with great coffee. The main attraction though, is the location. We were just 300 meters from Saint Peter's square and it's a great jumping off point for all of Rome.
