“Good location and so-so facility”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

The rooms are fairly clean but the shower is unbelievably small. The lobby had some kind of strange smell. We were able to get in OK during the day but no one is available afterhours - Alberta at the Hotel Paba next door (not related) often has to help out straying travelers. Subpar continental breakfast with fake croisants and vending machine coffee.

Great location though. Right down the block from the colisseum. Stay at Hotel Paba instead if you can get a room - we were lucky to get a room there for our first few days in Rome. What a difference....and right across the hall from this place!

“Worst service I recieved during my entire tour of Europe.”

This hotel, is somewhat of a joke. We arrived and rang the bell on the door downstairs but nobody answered (they're on the second floor of an office building.) Fortunately we were able to ring a completely separate hotel in the same building who advised us we should walk down the block and around the corner to a restaurant and tell them we wanted to check in? Same ownership I'm guessing? From there the stay was mediocre. Room was decent enough, usually hot water in the shower. However, once inside the building-virtually anyone could get into the hotel and seeing as there isnt always somebody at reception, this was a worry as there are no safes and we had quite a bit of electronics with us. The only things more flimsy than the doors are the locks keeping them shut. Upon checkout, their credit card machine wasnt able to connect to the internet (yes incase you're wondering, neither the machine in the hotel OR the restaurant worked) so we had to go at 1 am (we had an early flight) and get 600 euro to pay these people. We did this only after realizing they had cracked my friends credit card because they were trying to slide it thru the machine so aggressively.

Room Tip: Probably dont stay here?

“Clean & Simple, definitely recommend to other people!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 March 2011

No one has reviewed this hotel since 2008..!! That's a bit reluctant for us at first. Here we are..!

To begin with a direction, at Colosseo Metro Station, go upstair for Largo Gaetana Agnesi. Out of the station, head outer right and continue walking down the street. You will be at Via Cavour for less than 5 minutes and the hotel is on your left. If you go other directions, it will be rough (with stairs) or took more time

The hotel is at the 2nd floor. It is a bit strange that's why the lift door doesn't open at floor level. You will need to walk up a little bit. Narcis will be waiting to welcome you even you come late at night. (I did call him first anyway) The best thing about fewer-stars hotel is that you get a service you can't find from 5 stars hotel. He did his best to answer any questions we had. We also got a 10% discount from a restaurant down-stair.

The room was big enough for us, a typical Asian couples. The shower and toilette is clean. We slept well for 3 nights without any problems. Our room was in the back, it was quiet as requested but had little view (not a matter though)

Another good thing is that hot-chocolate and coffee are always+all-day free. I love the hot-chocolate there, it is great! even from a machine! The breakfast is typical but ok to me after staying in Italy for several days.

The location is great, less than 10mins walk from the Colloseum.. however I don't know why many street lights in Via Cavour were not turned on. The street was quite dark at night. So you wouldn't feel like walking around at late night. I hope the town staff will fix it soon!

Walking to other sites like Trevi Fountain is doable, but I only recommend if you have planned it well. For example, out of Colloseum to Palentine Hill then Capitolini Museum and then go to Via Corso for Trevi Fountain, or you make take a metro to Spanish Steps and walked down instead. If you stay 3 nights, I recommend you to buy Roma Pass. It may look costly for 25euro each, but I think it is really worth buying. We visit several sites for free and took both metro and bus!

To conclude, if you are looking for a budget hotel and quite road to stay, you won't regret. but if you are looking for a busy tourist street, you'd better find somewhere else.

PS. Rome is safer than what we thought at first! Really! And people are really nice! And you might get a better rate from Agoda

“Great location, basic but clean, ask for a room at the back.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2008

I wanted to take my husband to Rome as a birthday surprise but funds were limited. I tried booking via an agency ,having seen some cheap deals on the internet. However, as I don't have a credit card I couldn't book wiothout telephoning to pay by debit card. The lady at the agency insisted that they did not have rooms available at the hotel of my choice and kept trying to locate us near the Spanish Steps which was much more expensive. I decided instead to try the Rome tourist information website. I looked at lots of places and The Hotel Ferraro fitted the bill in terms of price and location and looked ok on the website but what was not clear is that the hotel occupies one floor of a much larger building which comes complete with marble staircase and an ancient but lovely lift with brass doors. Our room was at the back which I would recommend as the Via Cavour is very busy all day and night. It was clean but very basic although our en suite bathroom had just been pleasantly refurbished. No food is available at the hotel but breakfast was included in the price and guests are given a token to take to a local bar for a light continental breakfast, which I complemented by buying a sandwhich to keep me going til lunch time. When we first arrived, I was a bit doubtful but my husband was delighted. He loved being in the heart of ancient Rome, and the view of the Colosseum each morning on the way to breakfast was so uplifting. If you are looking for a place to be pampered and expect luxury this hotel is not for you. I f you wish to deilght in Ancient Rome every morning, and on a low budget this hotel is great. I paid 200 euros for our double room and breakfast for three nights which I considered to be very reasonable. This booking was negotiated by email directly with the lady who runs it. We met a lot of people who had been placed by agencies on the outskirts and were travelling in every day by bus. We felt very fortunate to be here with most things we wanted to see so close by and good transport links. There are some great restaurants and pizzerias in the area to suit every budget. Hotel Ferraro did it for us!

  • Liked — location and the bulding in which it is sitauated
  • Disliked — occasional noise from other guests coming in at night

“Dont judge a book by the cover!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2008

When we arrived outside this hotel we thought we had made a big mistake, our opinion didnt change much when we got to the reception it all looked pretty bleak.
To our delight we were wrong when we opened our room door we were pleasently surprised, it was a nice size, modern and nicely decorated. The bathroom was much the same.
The best thing about this hotel was the location it about 5 min. walk to the Colloseam.
