No one has reviewed this hotel since 2008..!! That's a bit reluctant for us at first. Here we are..!
To begin with a direction, at Colosseo Metro Station, go upstair for Largo Gaetana Agnesi. Out of the station, head outer right and continue walking down the street. You will be at Via Cavour for less than 5 minutes and the hotel is on your left. If you go other directions, it will be rough (with stairs) or took more time
The hotel is at the 2nd floor. It is a bit strange that's why the lift door doesn't open at floor level. You will need to walk up a little bit. Narcis will be waiting to welcome you even you come late at night. (I did call him first anyway) The best thing about fewer-stars hotel is that you get a service you can't find from 5 stars hotel. He did his best to answer any questions we had. We also got a 10% discount from a restaurant down-stair.
The room was big enough for us, a typical Asian couples. The shower and toilette is clean. We slept well for 3 nights without any problems. Our room was in the back, it was quiet as requested but had little view (not a matter though)
Another good thing is that hot-chocolate and coffee are always+all-day free. I love the hot-chocolate there, it is great! even from a machine! The breakfast is typical but ok to me after staying in Italy for several days.
The location is great, less than 10mins walk from the Colloseum.. however I don't know why many street lights in Via Cavour were not turned on. The street was quite dark at night. So you wouldn't feel like walking around at late night. I hope the town staff will fix it soon!
Walking to other sites like Trevi Fountain is doable, but I only recommend if you have planned it well. For example, out of Colloseum to Palentine Hill then Capitolini Museum and then go to Via Corso for Trevi Fountain, or you make take a metro to Spanish Steps and walked down instead. If you stay 3 nights, I recommend you to buy Roma Pass. It may look costly for 25euro each, but I think it is really worth buying. We visit several sites for free and took both metro and bus!
To conclude, if you are looking for a budget hotel and quite road to stay, you won't regret. but if you are looking for a busy tourist street, you'd better find somewhere else.
PS. Rome is safer than what we thought at first! Really! And people are really nice! And you might get a better rate from Agoda
