“Worst service ever”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

We are not the guys, who complain on the service, but this place was something extraordinary. First of all it was pretty difficult to find the place, because there is no any signboard on the building.
The second surprise is that the receptionist doesn’t speak English at all… literally… on every our question asked in English we’ve got the answer in Italian. I don’t expect fluent English, but no English at all in the center of Rome? Seriously?!
We were there 4 nights. In the middle of the second night somebody was trying to check in, so they were ringing on the door and calling to the telephone, which was on the reception, and we could hear every call with no answer, it was awful, but when I thought how this guy felt, I understand that we were lucky.
Evening before the third night the receptionist asked us to move to the neighbor room, because they expect the big family and our room is the biggest in the hotel. We were nice and agreed. When we asked when he wants us to move, he answered (and I’m quoting): “Tomorrow this room to this room”. In the morning, he told us that there are people there yet, so we should pack our luggage and leave it at the reception till evening like for check-out. Believe you don’t want this on your vacation.

Room was quite small. Smaller than appeared on Internet. Room and bathroom was very clean. The service level at the front desk was non-existent. Wifi not working. Wouldn't stay again, but was very close to Termini.

“Not what we reserved”

Same experience as many here. Taken down the street to 2 star angelica residence. Forced to pay cash, and when I pointed out the sign on the window that said cards accepted, was told the "machine" was broken, but apparently nowhere to be seen. Bed and breakfast here means you pay for bed, then pay for breakfast. Black mold in bathroom.

“MISLEADING! Escorted to diff. address, no credit cards, but great customer service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 June 2010

Cons:
1) Booked this hotel because it was only 3 blocks away from Roma Termini. However, when we got there, they told us that our hotel was in a different building. Another 4 blocks away! It was a large building which included rooms from other hotels that were owned by the same people. Nowhere on their website does it say that there is another building. It should say Palma ReisdenceS (plural).

2) Booked the hotel through expedia.com with my credit card, thinking that the hotel accepts it. However, they do not. I believe that the hotel should have noted AHEAD OF TIME in a confirmation e-mail that they do not accept credit cards. Especially since smart travelers do not carry 200-300 euros in their pocket!! The closest ATM is near the train station which you would now be further away from.

3) Bed bugs: I woke up the last morning with two on my face and 5 on my arm which were in a row. We were leaving that morning and I did not feel like complaining.

Pros:
1) Wifi internet works...if you stay in the hallway or at the corner of your door. This was our last hotel during our trip so we were just glad to get any type of connection.

2) The one and only great thing was their customer service. Omar (?), at the front desk, was very friendly and accommodating. Speaks English well. Gave us a brief overview on which trains and buses to use, restaurants to go to, and hooked it up with a last minute private van to the airport since they also owned a shuttle business. It came in 15 minutes. Driver was excellent!! 60 euros, which is the amount we would've paid anyway to take the Roma Termini train to the aiport (15 euros per person and there were 4 of us). Plus the airport is difficult to navigate around for international flights (several security checkpoints and a bus ride to the terminals).

Overall, their great customer service made up for everything. They just need to improve their advertisting. This hotel is good to book if:

-You know ahead of time which location you are staying at.
-Know that you must pay in cash (euros).
-Expect nothing but a bed and a roof over your head. It is a no-frills place and the quad room is rather small.

“Misleading about credit cards”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2010

The best thing about it was it was clean. But this hotel was the worst part of our trip to Rome. First, we showed up at Palma 1 - and apparently our room was at Palma 2. We missed a tour we were scheduled to go on because we had to be escorted across a few blocks to the correct building - which we had no idea we were staying at until we arrived - and it made us late. Internet was intermittent and slow. Hallway noise was high at night and in the morning. And finally the guy at the front desk in the morning spoke not a word of English and refused to take a credit card - nevermind the credit card signs right there proudly displayed, nevermind what all the booking sites say or that you book the hotel with a credit card. We will not stay there next time we visit Rome. I'm sick of misleading advertising.
