The Pigneto House was definitely the best way to see Rome--located just outside the city (yet very well-connected via trams and buses) in a really fun residential neighborhood, and extremely reasonably-priced. We had the apartment to ourselves and yet only paid for our double room--everything about our stay was lovely. The neighborhood was laid-back, funky, and gave us a genuine sense of normal Roman life. We ate at a nearby restaurant on our last night and it was the best food we had during our entire stay (and we ate extremely well!)--the presentation, variety of ingredients, etc was phenomenal and a special treat! The nearby gelateria was also amazing. Our hostess, Arianna, could not have been more welcoming and friendly, and provided us with the most delicious personalized breakfasts each morning! I highly recommend the Pigneto House for any travelers willing to go a bit out of their way to experience Rome in a fabulous and truly genuine light.
