Hotel Laura is situated away from the historical center of Rome, but this is not so much of a disadvantage, because it is located just in front of the Metro station, and is also served by bus n. 62 which stops at the Vatican city. You can reach the city center within 20 minutes with the metro, 15 minutes by bus and 10 minutes by taxi (costs about 12 euro at night tariff).
In the neighborhood you can find a couple of ice-cream places, a supermarket, a pastry shop and some other nice and cheap stores.
The hotel itself occupies floors 4 and 5 of an old building which only has a 4-person elevator.
The rooms are small but clean and feature TV and mini-bar.
No wireless internet is offered, but if you get a room with street view you may steal internet from a neighbor!
The breakfast is limited to orange juce, coffee, cereals, croissants, marmelade and milk.
The staff is helpful and kind.
All in all, Laura hotel is a good choice if you are looking for a cheap, quiet, convenient but not fancy hotel. Rome is a fantastic city, so who cares so much about the hotel?
