We thought it would be nice to end our two-week Italian holiday in a smaller town north of Rome, but with quick access to Rome centre. Tempo di Apollo's staff (in an email) said it took "about 25-30 minutes" to get to them when we asked for directions from Termini Station. It took us over two hours from Termini to the hotel. The next morning, we took a train from the hotel to the Vatican, and that journey was only 45 minutes. It's a pleasant journey, but you can never tell if the trip will take 45 minutes or 2 hours. Because we had a 10am flight, we left the hotel a day early and stayed somewhere closer to the train station. The hotel still charged us for that last night (because we'd booked through an outside website -- it was in their terms and conditions, which is fine, but we really wish the hotel had been more truthfully represented).
The hotel itself is in a beautiful area. The medieval town of Isola Farnese is adorable, and the Etruscan ruins of Veio (maybe a 1/2 mile walk away) were really interesting. The staff was nice and helpful. Our room was nice -- missing a lightbulb though, and the 'king' bed was two twins pushed together. My husband and I felt like were in two different beds. The view from the window is gorgeous though.
All in all, it's nice for a romantic getaway (if you can get a real king or double bed), but it's not the best base for exploring Rome.
Room Tip: If you're a couple, make sure you don't just get two twin beds pushed together.
