“English to Italian = no booking”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2007

We had booked to stay at AntiquaRoma in the same way as I have booked with a long list of hotels/hostels around the world. Sadly what was in very clear English a reservation to stay did not translate into Italian according to the man who greeted us. We were told we did not have a reservation. I read about this sort of thing happening, especially in Italy but I didn't think it would happen to me as I am very clear in how I book.

On a positive note the owner, although not apologetic, did call a friend at a nearby place "Marta's Guesthouse" and promptly got us a booking for the same amount of money and drew us a map of how to get there & it turned out to be very nice.

On another good note to anyone wanting to stay here, the corridor we saw looked very pretty and clean, it has a lift up to it's floor & the area is very good.

“Good location, Clean room and bathroom and Friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2006

Stayed here with my mum from October 7 till October 10 and was very pleasantly surprised.
Good Location very near to the Vatican. Crossing the River you are near to Pantheon and Spanish steps etc
Room and bathroom were very clean. Friendly staff. You get your own key to enter downstairs, to the appartment and to your room. You hardly noticed there are other guests staying there. Our room had the bathroom in the hallway but this was no problem at all. All other rooms have the bathrooms ensuite.
No double glazing so it can be a bit noisy especially on the Saturday night with traffic so earplugs might be an idea but we were so tired after walking around Rome the whole day that we fell asleep okay.
Breakfasts is brought to your room in the morning and you can choose what time you want to have it between 8 and 10.
I would definitely stay here again if I ever go back to Rome!

“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2006

We had a great stay at AntiquaRoma. It is in an excellent location just across the river, gives you the feeling that you are getting away from the bustle yet it only takes a couple of minutes to get amongst it when you need. Our room did not have its own bathroom however we didn't find this to be a problem as it was just around the hall and we didn't share it with anyone else. We had breakfast bought to our room each morning, standard Italian breakfast, which was fine. The rooms were extremely clean and nicely decorated. Although it is a bed and breakfast I don't think the owner lives there and its very quiet and private. We would certainly stay there again if we were to go back.
