“FANTASTICO!”

Our trip to Rome and it was brilliant.

This hotel is great, good price, very clean, very well located to everything you will probably want to see within walking distance (Spanish Steps (10 mins), Vatican (15 mins), Trevii Fountain (20 mins) ), Colliseum (30 mins)) and we are in our forty's and dont rush about :).

The owner Enrico is a star. He is very friendly and approachhable, he was there when we needed him for advice but gave us complete privacy and independance. Enrico gave us a bottle of complimentary wine when we arrived, then provided another after we drank it :)
We will definately return and be seeing him again.

This hotel met all our needs beyond our expectations.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! 11/10

“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

AntiquaRoma was excellent. The location was perfect to be able to walk to so many sites. The room was very clean, well serviced, comfortable with ensuite and quiet. Enrico was an enthusiastic caring host who helped us with various arrangements when needed. We enjoyed our breakfast at a nearby cafe facing Pont Cavour which was a daily highlight for us. It made our stay in Rome more memorable. We would enthusiastically recommend AntiquaRoma and will do so to our friends and family. Mary & Rich Wright, Arnprior, On, Canada

Room Tip: Room facing inner courtyard might be quieter, although AntiquaRoma is on a side street. Also recomme...

“Wonderful hospitality. Best location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

Our first time in Rome and, following other Tripadvisor reviewers advice, we took the SIT shuttle bus from the airport. The trip 8 euros each and took about 45 minutes. Our stop, Piazza Cavour was the first on the route. Via Marianna Dionigi was literally round the corner.
However, we had some difficulty actually finding number 17, AntiquaRoma. No. 21 was a cafe/bar, No.15 a shop. We were looking for a hotel frontage when in fact No. 17 is a commercial building and AntiquaRoma is on the second floor.
It has a massive double wooden entrance door, which was locked when we arrived, luckily it was daylight so were able to find AntiquaRoma in tiny letters on the intercom panel.
We met our host Enrico the following morning and he said the doors should have been open
but I don't think that would have helped any as there are no signs in the entrance hall either.
This, however, was our only problem, and I only mention it here as a guide to others.

The accommodation was spacious and exceptionally clean. An extremely comfortable king sized bed. We had a room with our own exteral bathroom, which was no problem. A lovely touch was a small bottle of wine and two glasses on a tray. Others have made comments about the noise from the street below but we didn't find this a problem, the area is very quiet at night, locals start opening their businesses around 8.00am.

The location of AntiquaRoma couldn't be better. It is located very close to the Pont Cavour crossing thre Tiber. Very convenient for the Coliseum, Trevi Fountain and many many sites, but also the main shopping areas with their designer shops for those with plenty of cash. All within walking distance. Equally convenient The Vatican City, St Peters Square, and Vatican Museums. Enrico kindly provided maps and full instructions on the best way to get around, including where to eat, how not to get ripped off and was a mine of information.
Such a kind and welcoming man.

My husband had a milestone birthday whilst in Rome, Enrico ' noticed' birthday cards and we returned one evening to a bottle of wine with a 'happy birthday' card attached.

Before we left for home Enrico made sure we knew where to catch the shuttle bus and gave us the time to be at the bus stop. This is worth knowing. You need to be at the bus stop 15 minutes before the scheduled time. Piazza Cavour is the last pick up on the return journey to the airport, so depending on time of day, queues start forming and not everyone always gets on. The buses are ever 40 minutes and this can make a huge difference at the airport.

The bus stops at the Arrivals end of the airport, it is a long walk to Departures. Then after check in there is a long walk through security and then to the gates. As an example our flight was due to depart at 11.40am, we caught the bus at 8.00am.Arrived at the airport at 8.40. We finally got to the gate at 10.50am, the flight boarded at 11.00 am. We were not dawdling!

Just one last thing Enrico does not take credit cards, so take enough cash!

Room Tip: Some rooms have en suite bathroom and balcony,

“Fantastic, worth the price”

This is a terrific place to stay. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. We had an external bathroom and didn't even mind. The manager Enrico was so nice and extremely helpful; he suggested a number of great neighborhood restaurants so we were able to avoid the tourist traps. The location is really convenient and pleasant--2 minute walk to the river and walkable to most of the tourist sites, although some--like the Colosseum take a bit longer . The neighborhood is not touristy and very pleasant. Also, there is a very convenient bus from the airport that dropped us off 2 minutes from the hotel and was less expensive than the train from Termini station. All in all we felt that this was a great value and a wonderful place to stay. We will certainly come back next time we visit Rome

“We certainly know where to stay next time in Rome.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 May 2010

We want to thank Antiquaroma very much for our stay in Rome in April and in particular for the extra free night because of cancelled flights back home for volcano erupted.
When we picked a place to stay in Rome during our first visit there, we searched for location and price, after having searched the net a for long time for adequate B&B, we took a chance on AntiquaRoma and the place met - by far - all our expectations for a good, nice, convenient and safe place to stay!!!!
We have spoken highly about AntiquaRoma to friends after our return home
and we certainly know where to stay next time in Rome.
